Why can't get say it right?!

Ok, so I need a bit of advice... I have a 6 week old daughter who is literally the best thing since sliced bread! Me and my OH chose the name Erin for her which we both adore, however, the MIL can't seem to pronounce it right. Every time she says her name she pronounces it ERUN! It drives me mad! I even make a point of over pronouncing the IN part in front of her but she doesn't get the hint! How do I approach this? Or am I being too sensitive about it? It's a 4 letter name, it shouldn't be hard to get right!? Sorry for the rant (and breathe)

Id just tell her straight up its erIN. I get how infuriating it can be, sometime people simply cant accept they are pronouncing it wrong.

My son is called Isaac what could go wrong? My FIL insists after 5 years to still say Isuck, sounds terrible and harsh. Im still trying to get him to say it correctly. Id rather him not use my sons name at all and just use his nickname than keep pronouncing it wrong.

I'm north west and I say Erin. I'd tell your MIL you pronounce it "in"

There's an Erin in my dc's class and her mum says Erun and it drives me mad! Weirdly the girl and brother say it properly, perhaps the Dad says it like that? Much nicer as Erin!

My (Donegal) accent would put it more like Erne, but if it's annoying you then you have to say to her now before it drives you batty.

I swear, the other day it actually sounded like she said Evan. I also think because I'm now listening out for it, it stands out so much more! We are northerners but no one else pronounces her name like this. It's awkward for me cos I really get on with her as well... I just want to shake her when she does it!

I don’t understand the thread title. Maybe your MIL doesn’t understand how to pronounce the name. Say something or have her say it forever.

I say a sort of mixture-something like Er-yin. I speak posh SE. People will say it differently. Sorry-but they will.

Erm I’d pronounce it Er-Uhn in my accent too. Would feel really fake saying Er-IN

Yeah totally depends on accent I think. Where is she from? You'll just need to tell her how to pronounce it, might take a while but eventually she'll get the hint!

I think you might be being sensitive. I'm my accent, it sounds like Erun. I'm not sure I could get too excited about it.

It's a lovely name. You need to stop the hints. One of you needs to explain she's pronouncing it wrong. Or it will drive you batshit stabby forever.
