Imogen/ Elizabeth. Any others similar?

Hi all.
Currently 22 weeks pregnant and found out we’re having a little girl.

Looking at names and there’s not many DH and I can agree on. Our surname is pretty unusual, a different spelling but same pronunciation of an illegal drug, beginning with C. So some names sound very wrong with it, including one of my top choices Robyn.

Dh’s top choice at the moment is Elizabeth. He likes traditional names, but not too “old”. I like Imogen, because I think it’s a little more unusual without being too out there. I like Elizabeth too, but would like something a bit more uncommon.
We both like May as a middle name. Any other first names we could consider?

What about Eloise? Sort of similar to both names. Elizabeth is far more unusual that Imogen at the moment if popularity is a factor.

Quite happy to settle for the common middle name of May as it’s to honour our two grandmothers as long as our first name isn’t an overly used one. It won’t be a double barrelled first name e.g Lily-may/mai/mae, so it’ll be rare that her middle name will be used for much anyway. Plus the surname is pretty rare too, so even if the middle name is one of the most popular at the moment, I’m not too fussed. Her name will still be pretty and not too popular.

I have Elisabeth as my middle name which I believe is the older spelling.

Just to gently point out that every other girl under the age of 12 in the UK seems to have the middle name May. It's lovely though, but if you want unusual, steer clear

Imogen is definitely not unusual. I have kids aged 10 down to 11 months and there are at least 2 if not more Imogens in each class/group.

Elizabeth is so much nicer than Imogen, which I'm not keen on - all the others I know are in their early 20s. There are loads of forms of Elizabeth, many mentioned above. There's also Lisbeth and Isabel. You're not just restricted to Beth or Eliza. I agree with Minipaw's list of similar names too.

I love Elizabeth and it has so many diminutives - Eliza, Liza, Liz, Lizzy, Beth, Betty, Betsy, Elsie, Ellie.
Imogen is really pretty too.

I teach a 16 year old Betty (full name Elizabeth) and she’s the coolest girl in Yr 11. Fab name.

Elizabeth is a beautiful name, prettier than Imogen imo (though both are lovely.) Imogen has become very popular though so personally I’d go for Elizabeth. You don’t need to shorten it but if you do then there are lots of diminutives: Beth, Bess, Libby, Betty, Betsy, Bets,

If you are Cockeyne (I love how you specified 'illegal' drug Grin) Margot would echo Margot Fonteyn, which may actually work in her favour to deflect attention away from Cockeyne if it has ever been an issue for you?

My niece has a beautiful 7 year old named Imogen Rose. It’s such a pretty name. I don’t know many others, one adult I think.

Imogen is on our list, probably leaning towards Jemima now though.

The Elizabeth and Imogen I know have sisters called Amelia and Jemima respectively.
