Finnegan for a boy?

Just wanted thoughts on the name Finnegan? First baby ds due later this year. Always loved this name and dp onboard.

There is only one N in Finian

It’s spelt both ways, from the Gaelic Fionnan, as above.

I've only ever heard it as a surname but it always makes me think of the taste of vinegar! I love Finn (one of the nicest teenage boys I know is called Finn) and don't mind Finnian and Finlay, though I'd probably avoid Finlay because there's more than one way to spell it.

Finnian is the closest to Finnegan.

Fingal is also not an Irish boys name

It’s the Scottish version of Fionn mac Cumhaill.

OP has not said she’s Irish.

Does it go with your last name? I had a friend called Mitchell David and everyone took the mickey out of his back to front name. And yeah Michael finnegan sorry

We had two highland cows when I was younger called Finnegan and Sanchez, so now it reminds me of them.

Also, Seamus Finnegan from Harry Potter.

I love Finn, Fingal and Fintan, not liking Finnegan.

I think I'd prefer Finnegan over Fingal. Fingal just makes me think of the County Council....

It's a surname, you'd not find a boy here in Ireland with it as a first name. Very similar though is Finian, that is a proper name.

I think it's cool. Smile you don't have to be Irish to choose a name, sometimes you can just like a name there doesn't have to be a reason! Go for it x

I really dislike it. It's a bog standard surname here in Ireland.
