What do you think of it? I've worked in many schools over the years both south and north of the country and only ever come across one Archie!

It's a Scottish name originally and my partner's family are Scottish.

I always loved it after watching the TV programme on Sunday evenings called Monarch of the Glen and there was an Archie in that ♥️

After these comments I'm tempted to try and think of an alternative but this is the only one me and DP agree on that I don't really dislike.

In saying that, I do really love Archie so I suppose I should stick with it really as I might regret not using it.

I'm in Yorkshire I know at least 15 Archie's between 10 months and 15yrs. Also know around 8 Alfie's in same age bracket.
Very popular her.

I have a friend with a ds called Archer but he’s always been referred to as Archie. She wishes they’d just gone with Archie but at there were quite a few Archie’s around at her dd’s school.
I think Archer is a better option personally as Archie for me is a bit cutesy and wouldn’t carry through life well

I like Archer.

I find Archie incredibly boring, but I just know so many ranging from 20's - 2 years old.

I don't like Archibald or Archer.
But I really really love Archie. I think it does suit the older person as I've seen it on all age groups.
I don't think it's the same as a Millie or Freddie though. I think it can stand alone as a name. Especially with the Scottish connection.

I love having a 3 syllable name as well as lots of nickname options. For work and when I meet new people I prefer my full name.

Archie, Alfie, Freddie, Ellie, Tilly etc might be cute nicknames but I bet most would prefer to have a more formal version of their name.

@DancesWithOtters I do think Archie sounds great on an adult male. The character in Monarch of the Glen was one (and he was very good looking too!) and I think it's quite a well known name for Scottish men. I can see it fitting a child, young adult and older adult well...even a pensioner!

I have a long/full version of my name, as does DP and we both get called by the shortened version. Both of us use the shortened version on forms etc, so I wish I didn't have the long version!

I like Archie (i have a little red headed Archie of my own) but Archer is a lovely alternative too.

Maybe you are thinking of the Little Archie comics?

Archer is nice as a full name.

In my area it's very popular- I have taught many an Archie! They are usually quite lively characters!

My nephew has a full head of red hair and his name is archie ans l think it suits him more. For some reason when i picture an archie its either someone with glasses on or red hair. I love the name.

I love the name, there's only 2 in DCs primary school so not too common, though I suppose it depends where you live.

It seems very popular at the moment and I know 4 under 5 yr olds. I never see them without thinking Archibald. I don't know why it is so popular.
