Baby with no name !!!

So I have a 3 week old dear little baby boy born Valentine's day... still without a name !

(poor bear !)

But I'm just really struggling to decide what to call him !

He has a 6 year old brother named Gabriel with whom I had no trouble naming whatsoever ( as it's my favourire boy's name)

I'm looking for something with a romantic link and I do like names with lovely meanings. Also something a little different but not too faddy/celeb..that can be shortened and something that stands up to Gabriel.

So .. my short list is...

Rafferty ( Raffy/Rafe)
Rafael (Raffy/Rafe) - son's favourite (Also an archangel like Gabriel)
Theodore (Teddy/Ted/bear) Means gift of god.. and is saintly
Roman (Romey/Rome/Manny) Valentines was a roman festival.
Romeo (Romey/Rome/Manny) obvious valentine link... but maybe too obvious !

Middle names - Would like to use William or Melvyn or both.. (Mine and partner's Dads)

And/or maybe a combination with the first names that don't get chosen.

ie. Rafael Theodore Melvyn Hopkins
Roman Theodore William Hopkins

I really would appreciate your feedback... as it's getting beyond silly now !

@toomanyweeds

Don't apologise ... thats what i'm looking for .. the general reaction/thoughts on names...

I just like them all!

This particular lady is really not keen on Valentine - especially if he was born on Valentine's day as that just exacerbates the "soppy" reading of the name. (Sorry)

thegreylady · 10/03/2018 13:27

Raphael Theodore is perfect and matches Gabriel ver well. I love the photograph Star

SoupDragon · 10/03/2018 13:16

A more accurate thought would be “would a teenage boy....?”

Dollymixture77 · 10/03/2018 13:10

@Pandoraphile

I like old fashioned ❤ and it is beautiful...

But I'm thinking maybe its just a bit too much...?

I think us ladies love it.. but would a fully grown man ?

Pandoraphile · 10/03/2018 13:01

Call him Valentine. It's an old fashioned name but it is a name!

Dollymixture77 · 10/03/2018 12:56

@LipstickHandbagCoffe
🤣

its only a baby pet /family reference

it would be Raphael / Rafferty Theodore

shortening to Raffy / Rafe

the bear but is for us :)

Raffy bear?that sounds like a cheap toy free with a book

Regressionconfession · 10/03/2018 12:34

Rafael Theodore nickname Raffy Bear is gorgeous and so is he!!!

Regressionconfession · 10/03/2018 12:31

How about Valentine?

Dollymixture77 · 10/03/2018 12:12

@joystir59

Oh I love Romeo darling... 💖

It's Daddy who's not keen...

OP posts:
ColinsVeryJolly · 10/03/2018 12:01

He's gorgeous.

I think Rafferty William Valentine

joystir59 · 10/03/2018 11:59

I also had a boyfriend whose middle name was Valentine. Now there is a thought

joystir59 · 10/03/2018 11:58

I know a fabulous 13 yr old called Romeo, he is artistic, sociable, extremely funny. I'd go with Romeo

SoupDragon · 10/03/2018 11:52

Rafael looks wrong to me so I prefer the PH spelling.

Dollymixture77 · 10/03/2018 11:49

@FreeNiki

ooooo gotcha !

OP posts:
FreeNiki · 10/03/2018 11:47

No

It is pronounced thaydeeas

So Thady would be said Thaydee

Dollymixture77 · 10/03/2018 11:44

@FreeNiki

As in 'Thaddy' sounds similar to 'Faddy'

But I do like old.. and something uncommon...

and yes.. the 2 angel thing... I just wanted to even them up...

... and I'm not even religious !

OP posts:
Chienrouge · 10/03/2018 11:31

Rafael Theodore

FreeNiki · 10/03/2018 11:30

@Dollymixture77

Jude Thaddeus was an apostle of Jesus Christ. So not a faddy name, it is very old.

I guess if you have one angel name maybe something biblical too but less obvious. I don't know.

I just think it sounds cool. Grin

FreeNiki · 10/03/2018 11:27

I remember a recent thread where a boy had a fabulous name: Merlin, and the poster told no to Arthur because you couldn't have Merlin and Arthur because of Camelot.

But apparently 2 archangels is acceptable.

I personally wouldn't have two siblings named after archangels.

Rafferty is better than Raphael considering the brothers name.

Isadora2007 · 10/03/2018 11:27

@dollymixture77
I like the spelling with an F best but both are nice.

And no, my name is nothing at all like isadora unfortunately- it’s an annoying difficult to spell Gaellic type name! 🙄
