Guessing Game

Thought this would make a fun thread and maybe also provide names for people that are choosing that they wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Think of a name (your child's or any name really) and provide 3 clues.

Other posters have to guess the name and once someone gets it right, it's their turn!

I'll start:

2 syllables

Very definitely a boys name but there is a feminine version

2 very common abbreviations/nicknames

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Another good one, finallychangedmyusername. Thank you.

Here’s mine. A bit less cryptic this time, I think:

This lady or gentleman could be named after a place in Wales.
He/she has a namesake who is English (but not when he goes back and forth).
Calling him/her could start with an argument.

finallychangedmyusername · 17/03/2018 09:59

Yep it's Noah! He who reportedly liked collecting animals in pairs Grin. The "negative" part of the clue references Noooooooo (ah)

FintyTin · 17/03/2018 09:03

Noah? He was a chap who must’ve been fairly concerned about too much multiplication! 😄

finallychangedmyusername · 17/03/2018 08:32

Nope

clairehr · 17/03/2018 08:23

Wolfgang?

finallychangedmyusername · 17/03/2018 07:55

Not Delia. Hint - this part of the clue describes his job:

Obsessive pet owner and duplication-concerned-mathematician

DuggeeHugs · 17/03/2018 07:18

Delia?

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 23:32

Nope again sorry @applesandpears56... and it's off to bed for me (hopefully for at least a few hours before the baby wakes!) Night!

applesandpears56 · 16/03/2018 23:28

Ada

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 23:22

Nope sorry @Bexter801

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 23:18

Gene?

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 23:08

Aw thanks everyone. That was a toughie but goodie @FintyTin! My brain is a bit frazzled after that one. So this next one is probably a bit easy, but I think, good fun.

Obsessive pet owner and duplication-concerned-mathematician is quite negative.

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 22:59

@finallychangedmyusername well done :) Brilliant clues is well(I was drove bonkers!)

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 22:54

Yes! It was Ruth, finallychanged (hope you don’t mind the abbreviation).

Ruth is half of the word ‘ruthless’ - without compassion
Slightly shorter than ‘truth’ - less than honest
The Book of Ruth follows Judges in the Bible
The name means ‘friend’
Ruth was a white dragon in Anne McCaffrey’s books
Ruth Ellis was the last woman hanged in Britain; she was convicted of murder.

Phew!

finallychangedmyusername · 16/03/2018 22:38

Ruth?

PeterRabbitEatingHisCarrot · 16/03/2018 22:35

Arya?
Daenerys?

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 22:32

None of them then :/

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 22:30

Sorry Bexter.

DuggeeHugs · 16/03/2018 22:28

Myra?

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 22:18

Last guess, and will give myself a break! Helene

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 21:54

Rose

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 21:32

She could be a good friend, a pale dragon or a famous murderess.

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 21:02

yes please :)

FintyTin · 16/03/2018 20:58

Shift finally over!
No-one’s got it yet, sorry.
Another clue?

Bexter801 · 16/03/2018 20:46

When's OP back Hmm I can't take the suspense
