Henry or Oliver?

Hi. We had our gorgeous boy yesterday and still not decided on a name. I love Rory but vetoed by hubby. The only names we both like and can have are Henry and Oliver. His sisters name is Emily. Love Oliver but my concern is that it is too popular. Thanks!

Oliver, as literally every second child here is called Henry.

pipilangstrumpf · 08/03/2018 13:47

Both very popular.

Oliver and Emily sound much better than Henry and Emily imo.

Namdowling · 08/03/2018 09:06

Thanks everyone, sounds like Henry is winning out. It was the name we originally had for first child but we had a girl, and my husbands favourite so I think we will go with that. The middle name is Jonathan and I think Henry Jonathan probably works better than Oliver Jonathan as well?! X

Oliver.

Because Emily and Oliver / Oliver and Emily sounds nice.

Emily and Henry / Henry and Emily, not so much. Too similar sounding.

I like Henry best, although Oliver is nice too.

HuskyMcClusky · 07/03/2018 19:10

Henry. Bored with Oliver and Olivia.

LoislovesStewie · 07/03/2018 19:08

Oliver gets my vote, Henry makes me think of Henry viii!

Biscuitsneeded · 07/03/2018 19:06

Henry. Cool name. Too many Olivers.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/03/2018 19:05

Oliver

CPtart · 07/03/2018 19:01

Oliver, despite its popularity. Dislike Henry.

Chocolatecake12 · 07/03/2018 18:54

Both names nice but Oliver gets my vote.
Emily and Oliver sounds great together IMO

lionessma · 07/03/2018 18:34

Another vote for Henry. It's my best friends name and he's ace. Congratulations.

Sophronia · 07/03/2018 18:27

Henry

TwoMs · 07/03/2018 18:21

You have the same name choices as me! We have Henry and William (who would have been Oliver if it was totally up to me) and if we’d had a girl she would have been Emily...
No help whatsoever but thought I’d post anyway!

chequeplease · 07/03/2018 18:14

Emily & Henry- sound lovely together. Congratulations too!

userabcname · 07/03/2018 18:08

Henry

Glumglowworm · 07/03/2018 18:05

I know siblings Oliver and Emily Smile

Rory would’ve been my choice too, but Oliver and Henry are both lovely.

HeyRoly · 07/03/2018 18:02

Oliver has been the number one boy's name for a few years now, so I'd go for Henry.

Littlelambpeep · 07/03/2018 18:00

We were going to use Oliver so I love it but I think it is really popular and Henry is also a great strong name.

I dislike Rory

toolazytobakeacake · 07/03/2018 17:55

I like both very much but I think they would also combine very well together as Henry Oliver.

Snowcatrunsthehouse · 07/03/2018 16:56

I have just posted on the Oliver thread. 2 Olivers at DC school and 4 Henry’s. Both lovely names but a little warning. EVERY Henry I have ever met ( including by reputation prince Harry real name Henry) has been a bit of a handful and rather naughty (in the fun way).
You will not go wrong with either but with a Henry be prepared to be familiar with the head teacher Wink ( the apple that broke the heads window at DC school was of cause thrown by a Henry)

chezmk1988 · 07/03/2018 16:52

Love both but Henry is little less popular

AnyaMoondial · 07/03/2018 16:40

Henry! It's a brill name.

Congratulations!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/03/2018 16:32

Oliver

moggle · 07/03/2018 16:20

We have a Henry, born in January. It is very common round here, probably similar to Oliver. I’d initially decided against it due to the popularity but once he was born i decided I didn’t care and so Henry he was :-)
