Just wondering what people's thoughts are on these names. It's been a while in the making but we're down to these -

Iselda
Eloisa
Tova
Enora
Romilly
Orelda
Albany
Delphia

I guess I quite like fairytale sounding names Smile Hadn't expected Romilly to go down as well as it has - that's good.

Sorry don't like them apart- they sound like fairytale characters.
Albany is also a suburb of Auckland.

HuskyMcClusky · 07/03/2018 02:54

I love Romilly, or even just Romy. I don’t like any of the others, tbh.

Albany is a town in Western Australia (named after Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, apparently), so I can’t take that seriously. It’d be like calling someone in the UK Whitby or Dover.

Joeybee · 07/03/2018 02:38

Names are such personal things, and these are my thoughts on these names only. What I'd say though is to go with what you 'feel' is right. Don't overthink it or take in peoples opinions too much. There's not a name out there that someone won't dislike!

Iselda - Horrible. Sorry
Eloisa - Cute name, and has 'Elle/Ellie nickname potential, which is pretty popular.
Tova - Quite a cool name. I like that is is obvious how to pronounce and spell it, it's not too popular. It's a little too 'out-there' for me.
Enora - Looks like you've taken Norah, and messed around with it.
Romilly - Yeah, this is an awesome name.
Orelda - No
Albany - Sounds like a production company or something.
Delphia - Prefer Daphne or Delphine.

ErrantBakedBean · 06/03/2018 22:16

I thought about Delphine but think it has a very different feel - more like a Marlene sort of name.

Iselda - no but I like Zelda
Eloisa - no but Eloise is nice
Tova - no but Tove is nice if you have Scandi connections
Enora - no. Nora is slightly less bad but still not good/
Romilly - it's ok but a bit like a surname
Orelda- Oral what?
Albany - no
Delphia - no. Delphine is ok.

whoareyoukidding · 06/03/2018 20:29

Romilly

SuperBeagle · 06/03/2018 20:22

I only like Tova.

Romilly is fine, as is Eloisa. I'm just not a fan of either of them. I prefer Ramona and Eloise.

The others are not great. Delphi or Delphine is much nicer than Delphia. Honora better than Enora.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/03/2018 20:02

I like Eloise, Delphie and Romilly.

GU24Mum · 06/03/2018 19:53

We know an Albany so I think that's my favourite from your list!

IVflytrap · 06/03/2018 19:52

I think Delphine is more common than Delphia, if that's a possibility for you?

Smoliver · 06/03/2018 19:36

From your list, I like Romilly, Eloisa, Enora and Tova. They all sound pretty to me Smile

chezmk1988 · 06/03/2018 19:07

Eloisa x

ErrantBakedBean · 06/03/2018 18:54

Thank you - they're not made up but I am interested to hear if they sound that way as I'm sure others would assume the same. And I completely hadn't made the Philadelphia connection! Delphia is actually a Latin name that means dolphin. Might take it off the list.

IVflytrap · 06/03/2018 18:17

Ooh, I love Iselda. I think it's the first time I've seen it mentioned on here. It is a legitimate name, for those questioning. I believe it's an old Spanish and Occitan version of Isolde.

My second favourite is Tova. I prefer Eloise to Eloisa, and not quite so fond of the rest of the list.

Willswife · 06/03/2018 18:15

Sorry, don't like any of them and a few sound made up.

Same as some others, I do love Elouise.

TroubledLichen · 06/03/2018 18:12

I like Romilly and Eloisa (but she’s likely to get Eloise or Louisa). The others really aren’t my taste.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/03/2018 18:10

I like Isolde. Not thrilled Iselda, as pp says it like a cross between Isolde and Emelda.
Both Eloisa and Delphine make me think of cheese.
Don't like Orelda. It's far too try hard and very harsh.
Tova and Enora see Orelda.
To end on a positive i love Romilly and Albany.

ChocolateCrunch · 06/03/2018 18:07

I like Romilly, and prefer Eloise to Eloisa.

bridgetreilly · 06/03/2018 17:57

Iselda: Either Imelda or Isolda. Pick one.
Eloisa: It's okay. I know one and people often assume it's Eloise, though.
Tova: I don't like this at all.
Enora: Ditto. Though I don't mind Norah.
Romilly: This is cute.
Orelda: No
Albany: As in, Albany NY? No.
Delphia: As in, Philadelphia? No.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/03/2018 17:38

Love Romilly

DramaAlpaca · 06/03/2018 17:37

Romilly is the best of the bunch, but not a name I'd use myself.

I don't think we share the same taste in names so I'm not going to be of much help.

DuggeeHugs · 06/03/2018 17:34

Romilly

AnyaMoondial · 06/03/2018 17:19

Eloisa is great but I must admit I prefer Eloise too.

MammieBear · 06/03/2018 17:17

Tova stands out to me, then Enora...
