Mia Donna ?

Thoughts on the name Mia-Donna as one name? Or Mia then Donna for the middle name?

Donna is after my DH late mother who passed a few years ago ❤️

Also I want 'Me-A' and partner wants 'My-A' for 'My Donna'.

She would have been 50 this year so he's really feeling it 😢❤️

Keep the Donna to honour his mum as it’s clearly important to him

But I would use a different first name

Did his mum have a favourite name that she never got to use? Or a middle name that would work?

Mia Farrow is really María de Lourdes Villiers Farrow.
Maria Donna known as Mia?
Maria Donna makes me think of Maradona.

Its nice he wants to honour his mum but Mia Donna is taking it too far in my eyes. I would either go with the My-a pronunciation but spell it Maia/Maya. Or add another middle name eg. Mia Jayne Donna to break it up.

If he wants "my-ah" as the pronunciation, it should be spelt Maya/Maia, which would get rid of the whole "my woman" thing anyway.

But if you're wanting Mia as in "mee-ah", perhaps giving her a longer form of the name would be better, and then you could shorten it to Mia (Amelia, Emilia, Miranda etc).

I think because of the my woman thing it doesn’t quite work and then makes me think of restaurants / pasta sauces and for the older brookside fans ‘casa bevron’

Did MIL have a middle name that could be used? Is there a different way of honouring her? 50 pounds in an isa for LO? Planting a tree?

Totally agree with op, she is and will be her own person.

I wanted to honour my mum with DD but hated both mums names, so I kind of shortened one of them and used it for DD middle name (Jude). Mum always loved that name and I'm glad we didn't go with Beryl!!

There are far better ways to honour his mum than by lumbering your daughter with "my woman".

It seems weird to call a baby ‘my Donna’ after their dead grandmother. Donna as a middle name, for sure - that’s lovely. It’s the sentiment that the baby is just a memorial for her father’s love of his mother that I find a bit much.

Give the baby her own name - don’t let it be all about your husband.

Could you consider another name that means the same as Donna - "lady"? eg, Freya and Martha both mean "lady", and there'll be loads of others. You could have Mia Freya, for example. So it's connected but not exactly the same name.

It's lovely that he's giving his mum's name as your baby's middle name but I don't think Mia Donna works. Plus without wanting to sound insensitive the baby's whole name shouldn't be about her late grandmother. She's her own new person and deserves a lovely first name all of her own.

The whole my woman is because his mom was his women, it's more of a "my Donna" he's looking for tbf

I quite like Mia, but Mia and Donna translate as "my woman" in Italian, which seems odd. Definitely Mee-a for Mia.

I'm not a fan of hyphenated names so for me it's a no. Mia is ok but I dislike Donna and definitely not together.
