Mia Donna ?

Thoughts on the name Mia-Donna as one name? Or Mia then Donna for the middle name?

Donna is after my DH late mother who passed a few years ago ❤️

Also I want 'Me-A' and partner wants 'My-A' for 'My Donna'.

She would have been 50 this year so he's really feeling it 😢❤️

Donna-Mia? It still means my woman but not quite so obviously. Otherwise go for Mia Something Donna to break it up. Your mum's name?

Cara Donna means 'dear woman'. It's no better than Mia Donna.

Maya is the more common spelling for my-ah.

I think to names ending with the same sound are a mouthful.

It would mean 'love Donna'. But it doesn't make a sentence in the same way as Mia Donna does, and the names don't run into each other in the way that Mia Donna just sounds like Madonna.

Then she would have Cara as her own proper first name, just hers, but if your DH chose, he could think of that name as symbolising the love he has for his mum - and also the love you have for him, to call your child for his mum's memory.

I think it just does not work, sorry. It vaguely sounds like "prima donna," it sounds like it means something in Italian, the sounds are too match-y.

I would either choose a different first name, or see if MIL's middle name works better.

I have the song 'Senza Una Donna' playing in my mind now.

Can you rearrange the names, or add another one in, to make it less 'My Woman'.

I think Mia = Me-a, Maya = My-a

Not a fan, sorry OP.

Personally I'm off the name Mia since DH pointed out its a military acronym (missing in action), and I don't think Mia Donna is right at all.
Firstly, please consider very carefully giving a person a name which directly translates to 'my woman' and secondly, the idea that your DHs mum was 'his woman' is really odd and made me feel a little queasy.

I totally understand wanting to honour the MIL, but I'd be inclined to keep Donna as a middle name and give the baby a first name which will allow her to grow into her own person, rather than living with a weird connotation or under the shadow of someone's memory.
There must be another first name to put in front of Donna which works better and doesn't saddle your child with the connotation that she's someone's property, surely?

I think she will forever have people looking at her strangely when she says her full name and will have to explain to everyone why she is called 'my woman'. I don't think it'll be fair on her.

Wasn't there an MN poster called Dawn Donna? Reminds me of her. Could you use Dawn as an alternative? It's very close in the way it sounds (but obviously different meaning). Somehow I think a single syllable name or name that doesn't end in -a works best if you want to use Donna.

I think Mia (me ah) is lovely. Donna as a middle and is fine. How many times are you going to call her by her full title anyway. I never use my middle name. Nor does anyone I know. I don't know most of my friends' middle names.
