Name for a snow baby

I have a really rare name myself and I’m very happy with it thanks. As you say people with quite common names have to spell them, as there can be different versions, it’s no biggie.

Tatiana - I wouldn't want to have a really common name like John, David, Stephen, etc. but having a rare name is quite a big challenge in life, believe me. Even people with quite common names have to repeat and spell their names sometimes. Imagine having to do that all the time and getting comments all the time.

I’ve met a Guinevere. It’s rarity is a plus in my book.

Yes, but babies are usually given names that would have gone for their great grandparents rather than their grandparents. You don't see many baby Jean, Barbara or Sheilas.

Personally, I want the Welsh language to survive so the more people have Welsh names the better BUT I think it's disrespectful not to make an effort to pronounce them properly and that means asking Welsh speakers how they're pronounced and not anyone who may have have heard of the name. If you do call a baby Eira, make sure it's pronounced properly. It's not impossible at all for English speakers, just remember the eyh sound rather than ayh sound at the beginning.

Eira is really nice, but Eirlys (snowdrop) is my absolute favourite girl's name. I'm a little bit sad I can't use it for my summer baby.
I personally would be encouraged, rather than put off, by it being an 'old lady' name. Names go in cycles. (Anyone know an Effie aged between 10 and 70?)

I was born in winter and my dad worked in the ski industry. It still suits me as an adult as I am fair/blue eyed.

I have found they are more vocal about being foreign language speakers then other groups.
So what if the name its pronounced 'incorrectly'? So what if it is old fashioned? No one is trying to pretend they are Welsh by giving their child a welsh name and why would they want to anyway?

Wales won't combust if non welsh citizens use welsh names.
