Posie or Ophelia!?

Baby has been born and we still haven’t chosen which of these two!! Love both. Please help us decide!

@PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe @MrsGrindah it's because posy is traditionally a nickname for Josephine. Just gives her more options (inc jo, joey, josie as well as Josephine) if she decides posie/posy is too sickly and childish later on.

I'd go for Josephine nn Posy (that spelling) so she can lose the cutesy nn when she gets past the toddler stage.

It seems silly to go for Lillie when everyone will assume Lily, but then Lillie Langtry is possibly the most famous Lily/Lillie there has been and she got the royal seal of approval Wink

Posy is lovely but I would have it as a nickname for something else. Ophelia is nice but a bit eccentric!

I thought wtf.

Already on facebook constant corrections of people spelling it Lily.

Posy (as in a posy of flowers) is a lovely name. Posie is nonsense, as are Poppie and Hollie. Don't use a perfectly good name and then add an -ie ending 'to make it different '. The poor child will spend their life correcting people or, worse, having to tolerate the constant misspelling of their name.

Also why are people saying call her Josephine with the nickname Posy? If you are going to call her Posy why not ..um.. name her Posy?

I don't think I could go for either name tbh. I'd feel like an idiot yelling 'POSIE' and 'OPHELIA' across a park. Is there a third option?

Ophelia instantly makes me think of this. Rather miserable connotations, I think. Wasn't Posy in Ballet Shoes? I think that sounds pretty, but I don't know why it goes with Josephine as PPs have suggested.

I'd choose Ophelia of those too.

Just can't take posie seriously. If you must, call her Josephine with posie as a nickname.

Posie is woeful. Ophelia had severe MH issues and died tragically but at least there is something adult about the name.

I like Ophelia as well but I've met three little Ophelias in as many years! Also her story is sad.

Congraulations. I'd go with Posie but only because I dislike Ophelia (it seems ott). Posie is too cutesy from my tastes but i do prefer it to Ophelia

Posie makes me think of Kylie Jenner, it's what one of her lipsticks is called and what everyone thought her baby was called at first
