Romantic girls names suggestions

Thought we had firmly decided on Isolde but now we seem to be reconsidering....!

Other names now being considered
Tristessa
Astrid
Sapphire (this is DH choice becase of a 70s tv show he loves)
Magdalena
Alethea/ Althea

Id welcome suggestions of similar names I might not have thought of and also thoughts on these names and which I should rule out.

Tristessa (sadness) is spelt Tristezza in Italian.

Astrid I like, as well as Magdalena, and Althea.
Saffron instead of Saphire?

I met a Safiyah once, it's pronounced very similarly to Sapphire.

You see that doesnt really dissuade me because id feel amazing if I were called Sapphire or Tristessa!! I was very nearly called Emerald and my actual name is slightly more in use than that, but still fairly uncommon. I used to spend all my time wishing I were called something more theatrical!

My daughter will be having her grandmothers name as a middle name which is a traditional and commonly used name. So I think if she ends up thinking her first name is too out there she can always swap to using her middle name.

Just remember your child has this name forever. Some of these names have the potential for her to be forever spelling it to people or telling people how to pronounce It.
She may not appreciate it, some of the suggestions are lovely and some are ridiculous. Kids are mean and I suggest you think about how you would feel if you were called Tristessa or Sapphire (sounds like a porn star name to me) at school.
She also has to go in to a work place one day.

Love Celeste, Phaedra and Arabella.
My DH hates Celeste and Arabella though.

But Phaedra can go on the list!

It's up to you OP as only you and your DH's views really matter, but I think Tristessa is over the top. That's a hard name to take through life - a lot of assumptions about your DD will be made because of it and not necessarily positive ones.

Here are some more manageable romatic names you could consider:

If we are talking out-there names I actually really like the name Psyche (Sigh-key), as in Eros and Psyche, which does mean soul and has a lovely sound, I think. But I realise I am basically on my own with that one.
