Hey everyone, i'm struggling to choose between Daisy or Lily.

Which do you like best?

I do like Lily, but all the ones I know are in their 20s and it must be going out of fashion soon. Daisy does sound fresher, but it's not as classic.

Lily is so lovely but it is very very popular. My DCs school has almost one in every class and 3 in one class. It doesn't seem to be slowing down either. Current nursery has 2. I was fine with choosing a very popular name when I was pregnant as I loved it and chose it years ago but I admit I feel very differently now and wish I'd chosen something different.

Iwas please reread your own words. You wouldn’t want to be taken seriously, hence the name isn’t a serious name? Not personal, just tired of the Mumsnet ‘Please don’t name your child Eddie, please name him Sir Edward Von Trundle or he won’t be taken seriously in the big, wide world’

Daisy and Kitty and Lily and Tutti Frutti are all growing up together and likely will meet an abundance of people with pretty, ‘sweetie’ names. They’re not going to be interviewed by Sharon and Clive.

User, no one on here said they personally couldn’t take Daisy seriously. Daisy will have to go out into society one day and society will react to that and all names based on previous interactions and stereotypes. You can try to change the world with your own kids’ names. Or is it that your name is Daisy?

I have an 18yr old sister called Lily. And I have a dog called Daisy.

Sooooo I like them both! But I think Daisy is far less common than Lily is nowadays.

I prefer Daisy over Lily.

I think Kitty might be too informal - I jusy don't see it as an adult name. Perhaps Katya as a longer version (if you don't like Catherine/ Kathleen/ Cristina/ Katrina)?

Daisy is gorgeous elegant feminine edgy and classic, and It's not massively popular.
Surely the Lily fad is over now.

Out of Daisy, Lily and Kitty, I would choose Lily. Over-popular and dull but adult at least.

Prefer Kitty though to either - if short for Katherine.

I like Daisy. Daisies are persistent, hardy, deceptively strong, cheerful, unpretentious little survivors that keep coming back, last for ages, as well as being pretty and charming.

A million times better than Poppy and Lilly, both of which have strong associations with death, and Kitty which is a cat or a charming nickname for a child called Katherine or a variety of.

I know Daisy has a history of being used as a nickname for Margaret because of the giant daisies being Margherita daisies, but at least daisies/ Daisy is also something in its own right, not purely a diminutive.
