Felicity/Effie, Caspar/Casper argh help!

Haven’t found out the sex of our baby but we have finally agreed on a name for each, kind of.

I love Felicity but my OH loves Effie, can we get away with Effie as a possible NN for Felicity?

And WDYT of Caspar/Casper and which spelling? We’re both English and I think the former is more traditional but OH thinks he’d be forever saying “with an A”. For what it’s worth, I have a name where I have to state “with a ...” and it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. (Please leave your friendly ghost comments at the door, the 90s were a long time ago!)

Other suggestions that you think we might like based on these are welcome, we need middle names still. Thank you!

I don’t think Felicity is too long but my OH loves Effie so just seeing if we could feasibly use it as a NN in the future. I like Effie but it doesn’t feel like a complete name to me iyswim.

Will show him that I’m right about Caspar haha thank you

Effie is a bit contrived and I'm not keen. Fliss is much nicer. If you think Felicity is too long, why not choose a shorter name.
Caspar is the correct spelling.

The Felicity I know is Fifi, so I think Effie would be fine!

Yeah I do feel Effie is probably a bit contrived for Felicity and the normal NN would be Flic but if it’s not too odd and it makes OH agree then I’m all for it!

Glad people agree with the Caspar spelling 😊

Hadn’t considered Jasper, I really do quite like it though and it goes well with our DS’ name. One to add to the list, whoops!

I don't think Effie is a nn for Felicity - but I expect it's coloured by the fact I know 2 Felicitys age 10 and 4, and a 7 year old Effie!

And Caspar, for me.

Yes I think you can do Effie as a nn for Felicity. It’s not the most intuitive, but then ours have family nns which are much further removed from their given names.

Caspar is certainly the traditional spelling here, and I much prefer it to Casper.

Does Jasper appeal? Only one spelling of that.
