We’ve hit a bit of a stalemate on the following names, two I love, two DP loves. Which would you choose and why?

Beatrice / Aaliyah / Christabel / Tabitha

Thank you!

Christabel nn Kitty!

Lucylululu · 28/02/2018 03:35

Tabitha is lovely! Beatrice is also nice. Aaliyah has a VERY 'chavvy' vibe, and Christabel isn't great either.

Lifeaback · 27/02/2018 23:24

Beatrice or Tabitha for me. Congrats Flowers

JacintaJones · 27/02/2018 23:08

Christabel is lovely, you could shorten it to Christy, Christa, Belle/Bella or Stacey.

Beatrice and Tabitha are ok.

Aaliyah is fine if you are Arabic.

windchimesabotage · 27/02/2018 19:36

I like them all except Aaliyah purely because it sounds a bit like 'a liar'

Tabitha is my favourite.

Glumglowworm · 27/02/2018 19:33

I really like Tabitha and Beatrice, not at all the other two

theunsure · 27/02/2018 15:18

I love Beatrice and Tabitha (although I prefer the spelling Tabatha as I know 2 who spell it this way).

Really dislike Aaliyah - it comes under the chavvy umbrella for me too I'm afraid.

Christabel is ok, but will be always spelt wrong I expect which could be really annoying.

justhereforAIBU · 27/02/2018 15:11

Tabitha - because one of my twins is Tabitha....I love it, we call her Tabby (or sometimes Kitten) and it suits her down to the ground. I actually like all the shortlist apart from Aaliyah...but that's just because I'd constantly be spelling it incorrectly! You could just keep the shortlist and decide when she arrives (definitely easier to name a baby once you've seen them).

Snowysky20009 · 25/02/2018 14:55

Christabel- Shortened to Chris all the time- boreing.
Tabitha best of the bunch.

bringbackfonzi · 25/02/2018 13:31

Christabel - lovely. Tabitha is ok but a bit catty.

bridgetreilly · 25/02/2018 10:04

In order, I like:
Christabel
Tabitha
Beatrice
Aaliyah

MikeUniformMike · 25/02/2018 09:55

I like Christina but not Christiana. Christabel is ok but there are so many -bel, -belle, and -bella names around.

SwinginFromTheChandelier · 24/02/2018 22:24

Christabel is the most unusual- I like Christiana...

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2018 21:15

Christabel or Beatrice for me.

I don't like the others at all.

Tessermee · 24/02/2018 15:36

Love Tabitha (Tabby or Tabs are such cute nn when they’re little) Beatrice is ok (Bea, Bibi or Biba as nn)
Not so keen on Christabel and really don’t like Aaliyah.

Mossbystrand · 24/02/2018 15:20

Aaliyah is an Arabic Muslim girls name meaning 'of high social standing'. It is also the female equivalent of the boy's name Ali. I hope this information helps.

PutYourSlippersOn · 24/02/2018 15:09

StatelessPrincess a lot of people who hear this name in Britain will think it's modern. It's not a traditional British name.

MyNewBearTotoro · 24/02/2018 14:54

One of my DD’s is Tabitha so I am probably a bit biased but I love it. I also like Beatrice.

I’m afraid I really dislike Aliyah and Christabel.

daisypond · 24/02/2018 14:52

Aaliyah - I'd assume you were Muslim/Arabic, but it is nice. Christabel - I think of the Coleridge poem first, so a literary link - but it's also nice, and unusual. I like Beatrice, but I'm not keen on Tabitha - a bit "servanty".

AdultHumanFemale · 24/02/2018 14:37

Ha ha, another teacher here, have taught a couple of mouthy and disruptive Aaliyah's as well, as well as others with variations on the spelling.
Tabitha and Christabel are my favourites.

StatelessPrincess · 24/02/2018 14:24

It's not as traditional as the other names that the OP suggested Aaliyah was being used as a name 1400 years ago. Just not in Britain.

PutYourSlippersOn · 24/02/2018 14:11

Mrsknackered No. I mean it seems like someone's attempt to make Leah more interesting and modern. It's not as traditional as the other names that the OP suggested.

LoveB · 24/02/2018 13:30

Tabitha!

Mrsknackered · 24/02/2018 13:30

@PutYourSlippersOn by made up, do you mean a foreign name?

Mrsknackered · 24/02/2018 13:29

I think Christabel is dire. Beatrice is okay. Like Tabitha. Love Aaliyah.
