Fallen out of love with my DC's name

I don't like it at all now, really.

DH does

I loved it when pregnant.

But did think when he was born that he didn't suit it much/I didn't like the sound of it.

But couldn't change it because DH and I had bonded over the name.

Anyone else feel the same way?

@Bluedoglead If she's saying all is well and midwives are happy etc- who are you to say she's lying or the babe 'shouldn't' be doing this. Leave it be and try to not let it ruin your day Hmm

It’s just dangerous, on a parenting site, in my opinion, to have someone say their baby slept all night from the word go and the midwives in the hospital were fine with it.

It's a great name. (He's my favourite artist.)

But maybe it works more for a boy than a baby. Just give him a cute nickname to see him through.

There is no midwife that would be happy with a newborn brand new right from the get on still in hospital newborn sleeping all night.

That’s jus not true. Unless your definition of sleeps all night is somewhat fluid. It just isn’t true.

Blue my Midwife was fine about it whilst home, and the midwives on the hospital ward were fine too.

His blood sugars and such have always came back very good and in his first week of life, he gained a little instead of even losing anything, and losing is normal after birthSmile

I suppose it's not all that important now though since he's 14 weeks. And if I were to have another, I doubt I'd get that lucky again anyway

Sleeping through the night from birth would have had my midwives and hv panicking. They are supposed to be wakened to feed at that age and it’s VERY VERY bad adviceto leave from for hours and hours.

Now I've worked out he's not called Elmo (I was very tired last night!) Love the name. But as others said wack in a good middle name and call him both to see what sticks.

Gorgeous name with awesome nicknames. Would he suit Vin (or Diesel if your tastes run to the unusual) while he’s so small

Thanks all; I will keep it as it is. Just hit me as too edgy today and then I started googling CEO's to see if there were any with that name Blush not that he has to be one! But want to give him the best and all that

Toss you tricked me! I googled the lyrics and ended up blubbering at them when the too beautiful for this world part came in Grin

I know someone who’s son was called Harvey, she changed it to Corey then back to Harvey 😒
Isn’t there a nickname you can use for him that you only can call him.

It's a really beautiful name. Was on my list. Look up Vincent Perez (when he was young in the 90s) - one of the most handsome men. And live the Van Gogh connection. He will grow into it x

Fwiw, we named DS an old-fashioned family name from DP's family. I kind of gave up when pregnant as we couldn't agree on anything and thought we may as well have a name at least one of us loved. 16 months in I do occasionally sit there and think, how the fuck did I end up with a son with that name?

But it's his now, and it suits him, so I tend to forget about if after a while

I loved my dd's name before she was born but I spent nearly the whole first two years of her life thinking I'd made a terrible mistake. Reading your post has made me realise I don't worry about it anymore. I think it was actually a form of anxiety in my case and in my head I'd decided that I'd given her a bad name and ruined her life (bit dramatic). But I really tormented myself over it during those first two years. I think it's just become her name now, I think everyone kind of becomes their name. I also think it helped when she started talking and she would say "I'm Ddname" when asked what her name is.

I had exactly the same with DD's name (also begins with V!). I fought really hard for it and absolutely loved it. Then she was born and I spent a couple of months thinking I'd made a big mistake.

She is 9 yrs old now and we can't imagine her being called anything else.
