Alis Oxford Dictionary - a person who follows the latest trends and fashions

OP wants to be more of a trendsetter. So I'd try and think of names nobody had used in a long time.

House

Hipster is meant to be ahead of the trends. So people who call their daughter’s Sylvie etc well before it becomes popular enough to be mentioned on name websites in a positive manner.

Call their sons Hector, Douglas etc

I thought 'hipster' meant follow the trend. So whatever is popular in your area.

Dd2 described a set of parents at her school as 'hipster'. She was in yr 3 at the time. I asked her what that meant and she said the dad had a long, flowing beard, quirky car, and jumper with snowflakes on it. Their daughter was Lola.

Also Myrtle.

I know a few people with a toddler Barbara, so it's still rare but is present. I think Victoria Coren MItchell and David Mitchell have one.

mikado1 · 18/02/2018 14:43

Really like Barbara! Tell us about the parents, I can't tell between hipster and wannabe!

Shirley, Mabel, Ivy, Sparrow (although I think that's more a boys name).

Lots of names listed here are pretty mainstream middle class in North London.

BellMcEnd · 18/02/2018 14:10

I met a 14 month old Barbara the other day. Her parents were achingly hipster. This was in an up and coming, slightly gritty part of SE London

Olive
Tulah
