Freddie or Gray

Top name at the moment is Freddie.
(After my Grandad - who is alive and unaware of our possible plan to use his name)

But we also like Gray.

No middle name decided but don't think they flow together. Well either way, we will be using Freddie as first or middle.

My other two have very normal names - they have both been in top 10 for years!

Gray might be the American spelling of grey, but I wouldn't be concerned by that. As for name teasing I think that can happen with any name! I don't have an uncommon name and had a few playground taunts.

Also the fact it is a colour doesn't matter. Violet, Scarlet, Rose and Ruby are all colours, yet they're more popular so people don't necessarily associate them with only a colour. Just like people often have issues with the name August for a boy, yet girls can be called, May or June!

Graham / Graeme is lovely. Gray on its own is bit odd.

Freddie isnot a particulary nice name and there is billions of them.

Frederick, Freddie for short.

Gray is the American spelling of a rather dull colour, not a name.

Freddie is better than Gray. I think he'd get grey, gay, grave, etc. If it's for the colour grey, ask yourself if you'd call a child Beige? But I just asked one of my teenagers what they thought of Gray and they liked it - they thought "mysterious, not black or white". But that's a teenager for you.

Personally I'd call him Frederick, Freddie for short. Frederick is a bit more dignified if he becomes a brain surgeon, Freddie if he's a boxer (this was my mil's criteria for a boy's name!)

I was thinking of Gray for a bit (short for Graeme/Graham) but DH vetoed it. Also, greys/grays are the aliens from Roswell.

I assume you mean Fifty Shades?
I'm not interested in that at all so definitely not because of that! I would rather gauge my eyes out with rusty spoons than watch it haha!

It's not a particularly inspiring colour imo. And you probably wouldn't call your child second or ampere, would you?

I was looking through a website of unusual baby names for boys (honestly some of them were absolutely ridiculous) but a few were quite nice and I knew some children with those names.
I was reading some out to DH as a joke, but when I came to Gray, we actually both liked it. I said it to my friend and she said her DD best friend is called Gray. Not keen on Grayson though.

He did mention the gay thing though!! Which is also why he doesn't like Kit (Tit).
When I typed this post in my half asleep state, I thought I had written Gary, so easily mistaken!!

Frederick is my grandads name but everyone calls him Fred. Freddie just seems softer because I've known my Grandad being Fred as he's in his 70s now!

My DS is called Oliver. So we've got a very popular name.. but he's in year 1 now and still the only Oliver! He is Oliver though, never Ollie. A couple of people have tried to call him it and he will respond "that's not my name, it's Oliver!" haha!

In my mind..
Freddie is 75%
Gray is 25%
