He can’t be serious?

We are expecting our first dd in 6 weeks and we literally agree on no names, we’ve been together 6 years and rarely argue but this has been a massive issue for us. DH really like the names Asia and India and Paris, he is generally obsessed with naming her after a place or country, I really like Sienna, Paige and Lily. He suggested having one of his names as a first name and one of mine as a middle but they don’t even go together. I said we should have a first and middle name that we both love but now he won’t even talk to me about it? Anyone been through this?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I’m not a big fan of placenames for children. I always wonder how many Italian or Spanish children end up with Barnsley, Anglesey or Birmingham.
I love Lily though.

Don't change your name!

Tell him you want the baby to have your surname. You will be her mother, after all.

And if you don't like the name, don't use it.

It sounds like he's being a bit ridiculous, tbh. A 'place name' just because ... no attachment, no meaning ... Hmm

Tell him to think outside his little box.

BookHelpPlease · 11/02/2018 21:15

Vienna makes me think of ultravox.

If its having his surname then you definitely get to pick first name!

MsHomeSlice · 11/02/2018 21:14

bluerabbit ..I thought you said Viennetta! :o

are we considering foodstuffs now? :o

RaeCJ82 · 11/02/2018 21:14

What about Madison James? I like James for a boy. I love it for a girl!

scotchpie · 11/02/2018 21:13

India is lovely, it's goes well with Lily & Paige (your surname)

NotSoSprightly · 11/02/2018 21:09

Chelsea is awful.

How about Sicily?

MrsEricBana · 11/02/2018 21:08

Not Chelsea. Just no.
Agree India Lily of the current options. Siena Lily works too.

Petalflowers · 11/02/2018 21:05

Skegy for short...!

place names

A few more to choose from

SallyLockhartsDog · 11/02/2018 21:05

I like Vienna !

LilaBlue · 11/02/2018 21:05

Chelsea is the worst name on the thread.

Romy? Personally I'd go for India Lily if I had those options.

FlopsyMcDoodle · 11/02/2018 21:03

I think Chelsea is the worst of all the names he’s come up with. Although tbh they all sound like Love Island contestants. Your choices are much nicer.

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 11/02/2018 21:01

How about Venetia?

Ofthread · 11/02/2018 21:00

Skegness Marjorie

FizzyGreenWater · 11/02/2018 20:59

Ok, the way you shut down this nonsense is to say -

'Well of course we need to decide the surname too. We've both kept our own so what do you want to do- your surname and I choose the first name, or my surname and you get the first name? I quite like Atlanta James (mysurname) actually...'

You will get the first name choice...

Unless of course you would like to think about your surname? He could change his if he wants you all to be the same?

Oh and I like Sydney for a girl a LOT, lovely old fashioned name and it's spelled that way for a girl.

NeilPetark · 11/02/2018 20:58

Chelsea is awful and quite dated now.

India is lovely and Indi as a nickname is cute.

CommanderDaisy · 11/02/2018 20:57

Romy?

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 11/02/2018 20:53

I actually quite like Vienna.

How about Victoria (or Adelaide)?

Wow Vienna was unpopular! We are both warming to Chelsea but if we go with that he wants her middle name to be James Hmm

Petra?

SleepingStandingUp · 11/02/2018 20:33

Arizona?

timeistight · 11/02/2018 20:30

Atalanta possibly. Not a place name as such, but a classical name.

FlopsyMcDoodle · 11/02/2018 20:27

Bryher
Iona
