What girl's name might we both like?

His favourites are Emily, Hannah, Charlotte, Louise and Flora (which I like but feel like we can't use).

My favourites are Francesca, Alma (it's such a "warm" name imo), Leona, Elena (DH doesn't like it for admittedly very understandable reasons) and Selma (DH vetoed it).

Awww :) Theodora might be better (more options) but Dora is just so "simple" and sweet.

DH agreed to use Franca or Francesca as a first middle name, btw (insert mega fistpump) :D

@floriad it didn't cross our minds to be honest as we loved Theodora but she's been Dora since day 1.

It would definitely work as a stand alone name and if we were to go back and do it all again she'd probably just be Dora Smile

Leora is nice. :) So is Vittoria / Victoria.

I might suggest those (if DH won't change his mind in regards to Francesca Wink).

But anyhow, we seem to have found our girl's name.

Dora or Theodora. Thank you for suggesting that, btw :)

I'm not trying to be rude, but is that... well, is that an "actual" name? Blush

Anyhow. The LO's first name will be Dora or Theodora. (and I'm still trying to trade Francesca in exchange for letting DH pick the 2nd middle name...)

A lovely soft name that's unusual and classic (in as far as it's Hebrew and was also popular in the Victorian era)

I really like Lydia but can't stand the German pronunciation...
And Lidia unfortunately looks misspelled in English (according to DH...)

Ada was actually on my list.

Unfortunately husband has vetoed most of my favourites all (pronounced English) so far:

Ophelia

I'd let DH pick the 2nd middle name if I could just "have" Francesca somewhere in there, tbh.

Francesca Louise DH won't agree to Francesca as a first name...

All sorts of shortening opps and I do rather like Dora. ( i also knew a Francesca called Fraskie but that might sound too harsh.)

Although as a four syllable-er myself, I have always insisted on the full name. For the extra milliseconds it takes to pronounce the full name, can't understand why people insist on shortening it?!

How about Orla which is using the letters and sound of your name without actually using the name?

I think that might be why DH likes Dora...
