Harriet or Hannah

Baby #3 is due in a few weeks and we're sorted for a boy's name. Our surname is one syllable.

DD1 has the same name as Prince George's sister and DD2 is the Roman goddess of flowers and spring.

If we have a third DD, which do you prefer: Harriet or Hannah?

I like Harriet - I find Hannah a bit hard to say for some reason! I think it's because I'm more used to the name Anna which flows a little more fluidly.

Love the nicknames Hattie and Hettie.

There was no other Hannahs Dds year at school I think it comes and goes and it is just your luck ifHannah is in that year or not.

I have a Hannah. Love the name as it was my best friends name when I was little. There are a few in her year though.

Anna is my fave girls name. It’s, somehow, funnier than Hannah but still just as beautiful. All Anna’s I have ever known were bright, fun and lovely.

I originally suggested Hannah over Harriet, but that's because I really hate the name Harriet. However, with your other DC names, I think Harriet does go better - it fits more when those names were fashionable in the 18th century. It's just that, for me, Harriet quickly becomes a servant name in the 19th century. To be honest, I think Hannah goes that way as well - very worthy, but it is nice. I think Anna fits much, much better and is more classic.

I'm not keen on Ellie either. I know a few Eleanor's but none go by Ellie.

I prefer Anna to Hannah.

Eleanor is nice but not for me. Our area is inundated with Ellies, Elles and Ellas.

I agree that Harriet fits in with the others' names better than Hannah. Does Anna fit better than Hannah?

I adore the name Harriet.
My ds is now 16 but would have been a Harriet had he been a girl. I then had another son so didn’t get to use it!
It’s still my all time favourite girls name.
I know a few Hannah’s, and 2 Harriet’s.

I've known 2 Harriets in my life and they were both scheming little madams so I'm going with Hannah.

My niece is hannah and she is the only one in her year group (yr7). 2 in whole school. It's not as popular as it was 15 years ago

I love it btw.

Harriet goes better with your ‘set’.

And Hattie, Lottie and Floss(?) are lovely nicknames but you may recoil in horror at the thought of that!

In which case choose Hannah!
