My French exchange person was called Tanika. She was very lovely. Her friends called her Nika which to the ears of a girl from a Welsh village in 1987 seemed incredibly cool

Tanika sounds nicer. Tinika may be shortened to Tiny or Tinny.

I knew a Timika ('eeka' sound on the end), which sounds a little softer. Does Tinika use that pronunciation or is it a 'ika'?

I don't like it at all, sorry. Names give an immediate impression of a person and this one isn't good. I think you would be setting up your child for disadvantage. But then so many people seem to do that with yooneek names Confused
