Calling the wise women of Mumsnet. I recently had a miscarriage before being able to determine baby’s sex. I would like to give baby a name just to honour them and give them a place in our family. I’m looking for a unisex name that means star or rainbow if possible? Long shot I know but if anyone can think of one I bet they are on here! Thanks in advance xx

Esther is star. Also Aster. Stella. Cassiopeia. Lyra. Ursa. Izar.

Or for new start, Aurora, Dawn. Or Lucy for light.

I knew this was the right place to ask. So many wonderful names. Thank you all.
As soon as I saw ‘Vesper’ I thought it was the one. Meaning Evening Star. 💫⭐️
Thank you everyone.

Raine (girl) or
Beau (boy) ?

We never found out the sex of the baby we lost either, I just picked a gender neutral name to remember him or her by. Look after yourself xx

CarrotCakeMuffins · 29/01/2018 19:14

Firstly, I'm very sorry for your loss.
I totally understand about wanting to give him / her a name and a star is a lovely idea. I named my miscarriages after Angels.

Out of the names above, I really like Celeste.

Look after yourself x

Enfys means rainbow in Welsh and I think I’ve seen it on name lists for both girls and boys. So sorry for your loss.

Sarahh2014 · 29/01/2018 19:11

You could have Star it's recognised as a proper name nowadays x

Frouby · 29/01/2018 19:10

We have welsh ponies and had a run on star/seren names a few years ago.

I have a Seren Dewr which means brave star. And we had a Seren Mai which means May Star.

I am not a welsh speaker tho and took my friends word for it. Sorry for your loss Flowers
