Looking for some inspiration of any names we might have missed.
Due in March and can't seem to agree on "the one".

Here is the list we have so far-

Iris - my total favourite, DH not keen
Isobel- we both like but don't love (Scottish spelling is the one we like as DH part scot). Also Isabelle spelling/Isabella v popular.
Fearne- both like
Violet- both like
Agnes- both really like but we both have A initials so feels a bit wrong/we don't want an A name. And maybe too old lady.
Lily- really like but far too popular.

So any others that leap out at you? Thank you!

Ada totally agree re popularity of all the Isabelle/Isabel etc.
Hester is a nice name. I'll see what DH thinks.

Love Elodie! I love Edith (Edie) but have a friend who has a daughter called that! I love Mabel but DH not keen.

If you like Hetty what about Hester? Lovely strong name I think.

I'm not keen on Isabelle as that and all the variants are massively popular already.

Agnes is nice but Aggie isn't.

What about Corinna, Dulcie, or Marguerite?

ChocolateCrunch · 22/01/2018 16:32

I like Iris and Violet, and quite like Agnes. Not keen on Fearne, and there just seem to be loads of little girls called Isobel and Lily right now.

How about Edith (Edie), Clara, Rosalie, Elodie, Flora, Tansy, Hazel or Mabel?

justtheonethen · 22/01/2018 15:53

Really like Ivy and Hetty!

I really like Iris and Isobel

On a sort of 'slightly old fashioned and slightly different theme' how about:

Bronte, Blythe, Cora, Clara, Cecily, Celest, Daphne, Erica, Effie, Fleur, Greta, Helena, Hetty, Ingrid, Ivy, Joanna, Jonquil, Keziah, Lilith, Lindy, Mara, Martha, Nina, Nadia, Olive, Polly, Rosa, Sorrel, Stella, Tessa, Tara, Verity

Some really good suggestions, I'll put them to DH later.
Please keep them coming Smile

I think Isobel is a good choice with the Scottish heritage, Agnes second for the same reason, I wouldn't worry about Agnes being too "old lady" all names do a full circle.

MikeUniformMike · 22/01/2018 15:19

Agnes is Ines in spain, and Innes is Scottish. I think I know 1 Innes and he's a man but it is nice. Annes (pr. Ann-es) is similar but starts with A.
Elspeth is Scottish and could be shortened to Elsie or Beth (Elsbeth?)
Fearne - nature name? Rowan, Bracken, Heather.
Iris - rainbow or flower?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/01/2018 15:15

I dont like Iris Ferne or Agnes
Violet is gorgeous.
Lily and Isabella/e are just okay, but if popularity bothers you I'd avoid
So based on that I'd go for Violet.
Other ideas.
Jasmine. Lilia. Laila. Felicity. Willow. Flora.
Florianne. Iona. Sienna. Hazel.

MikeUniformMike · 22/01/2018 15:15

Iris is nice
Isobel - I would go for the Isabel spelling and it is very popular
Fearne - Prefer Fern
Violet - Prefer Viola. Not keen on Vi. or Vilet pronunciation.
Agnes - back in fashion. Not keen on Aggie.
Lily - very popular and I don't like Lil.

I think I would go for Fern or think of why you like each name.
