We have final few names picked but can't decide. Also throw some names I might like if you can!

Saoirse
Avery
Amelia
Saorla

We are Irish hence the two Irish names

Alexandra is nice because it has lots of potential shortenings.
Ally, Alex, Sasha, Sandy, Zandra, Sandra etc

Alexandra is nice and has lots of potential for shortenings too. Funny how Alexander has Alastair (in all it's myriad of spellings) as the Gaelic version but that's never really been prevalent in a feminine form in the same way as Alexander.

Yes, I know here in Scotland they feminised every male name, usually by adding -ina on the end of it but most of those never lasted the pace. I used to work dealing with communications to lots of Scottish elderly customers and would come across Duncanina, Angusina, Donaldina etc but can't say I ever came across an Alistairina.

Thanks for comments, yes had also thought of sorcha so may be back on the list.
I don't know why I'm going for Irish names this time around!
I think saoirse is our favourite though it is very popular at the moment.
Why is this so hard! Then have to think of a middle name Shock

manic Sorcha is definitely, 100% pronounced the first way in Irish. It does my head in when people called me "sore-shuh", I can't imagine how much more annoyed I'd be if they then eliminated the "R" from it as well.

But yes OP, Saorla is by far my favourite of those, as Saoirse is very common where I am - it sounds harsher or something to me too, whereas Saorla is lovely and frilly or something almost. What about Síofra? Or Síomha? Or of course Sorcha, which is obviously the best name there is Wink

I absolutely love Avery.

I don't know how to pronounce Saorla to be honest but it looks like I like it.

Don't like Amelia and not keen on Saoirse.

My favourite Irish name is Sorcha. I think. I taught a little girl with this name and it was said 'So - ruh - kuh' which I think is really pretty. But I have been told (on mn!) that that was wrong and it's actually 'Saw-shuh' which I don't like.

Saoirse is one if my favourites! I also adore Caoimhe.. I wanted to use it for my daughter but my partner doesn't like it :(

Saoirse is the one that stands out as the nicest, and my guess of how to say it was right. I'm not Irish.
Saorla is nice too. Don't like Aviary or Ameelia

Avery = printer labels for me
Amelia = too popular
Saorla = I like it but people will always think you're saying Sarah which would annoy me
Saoirse = ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, beautiful name

Saoirse is the name I like best from your list and the rest are ok apart from Avery as it sounds rather masculine and reminds me a character from American dad!

I have an unusual name so unfortunately know how annoying it is to keep pronouncing it!
We all know how to pronounce saoirse in Ireland.
I like the name caoimhe too but know a few so that's ruled that name out.
I've gone off the name Avery now with all the mention of labels 😂

They're Irish living in Ireland...The Irish know how to pronounce Irish names.

Saoirse is not a difficult name to pronounce either once you've heard it. Seer-sha. Has the same vowel combo as Aoife, which seems to get along just fine in the UK.

Avery - Feel this is a cute and underused name. Ava is a nice nickname for it too.

Amelia - Too popular now, it's become a bit boring. Amelie is a nice alternative.

Saorla - Sounds like a brand of soft drink or something, not a fan.

Saoirse is one of my favourite girl names. It was popular in NI when I was growing up too, (think that’s to do with the meaning).

Saorla and Avery are nice too though.

I can’t stand Amelia for some reason. They are everywhere where I live though, so I’m definitely in the minority there I think!
