Middle name for Lily?

We are set on Lily for a first name (sorry if that's boring or common!) but stuck with a middle name. Would have ideally liked to use the middle name as a way to honour a relative or something meaningful but we can't think of anything suitable for that.

As it stands she may not have a middle name at all which would be fine but if we can think of one that sounds great then I'd like her to have one.

We have ruled out the common combinations such as Grace, Rose and May but would like something fairly simple and classic. Surname starts D so would like to avoid her initials being LAD or LID Grin

I have a Lily Jane, sometimes called LJ.

Have to say I'm pleased to see most with the same spelling we use, she still gets Lilly at times.

One thing I'd say when choosing is that we kept trying out the full name we were keen on e.g. Kate Madeleine Smith (nice) totally (stupidly) missing the point that the middle name would rarely be mentioned and she'd just be Kate Smith every day which is bit plain. So whatever middle name you choose make sure that it's good without it!

I think a lot of suggestions seem to assume that both names will be used. Eg Lily Kate, Lily Sue (so American).

Do you intend to use Lily on its own or use it with a second name? If you are not using the second name, then you can go for a longer name and one that stands alone. There are some lovely names you can choose that will be really special and not be like everyone else. Buy a baby name book and start looking. Dare to be a bit different!

Sorry OP just noticed you'd ruled out Rose!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 19/01/2018 09:44

I'd go for Rose every time. I think it's a lovely combination. Lily is a beautiful name OP. If I'd had a DD it would have been the name I'd have chosen.

I think one syllable sounds better with lily - it flows off the tongue more naturally.

MrsMotherHen · 19/01/2018 09:36

Ooo lilly beth is lovely.

Randomlywondering · 19/01/2018 09:31

I nearly accidently gave my daughter the initials RIP, hadn't even occurred to me.

I think a 1 syllable middle name would sound nice but can't add to what's already need suggested.

Heartofglass12345 · 19/01/2018 09:28

Ooo i like lily beth as someone else suggested Smile
