I liked lola but everyone said it was prostitute-y which put me off. What about Lila or Lilia instead?

I love Stanley!

I’d stick with something ‘vintage-y’ sounding, but fairly classic. That’s how I think of Stanley.

I think they are a little similar, but the initial thing wouldn't put me off. My mum, sister and I have the same initials, we never had an issue with post that I can recall.

They are quite similar. It’s not the same as James and Jennifer at all (as a pp said) as Stanley and Sidney don’t just start with the same letter, they’re the same rhythm and rhyme too!

I think Stanley and Lola go well or...

I think its cute. Prefer sydney though, to me sidney is the masculine spelling.

I think Sydney/Sidney is a great name for a girl!

If you want a similar name with a completely different etymology, try the (French?) Sidonie.

As you also like Poppy and Lola, how about

Florence, Deirdre, Maura, Michaela, Iris, Violet?

Jeez, I also don't see what the problem is with Stanley and Sidney. Quite cute together. No different to Michael and Maisie or James and Jennifer.

I think it sounds fine together and both lovely names. Sidney is my DD’s middle name, it’s also her grandad’s name but I actually prefer it for a girl rather than a boy. I also prefer the Sidney spelling rather than Sydney like the city.

As far as the post thing is concerned, my entire family have the same initial and I don’t recall it ever being a problem

Sidney should be Sydney imo but we live in Australia so having a Sydney would be a bit weird

I would assume Sidney was a boy, especially when paired with Stanley, because they both have the same "popular in the 1900s, back in fashion now" vibe.

I do think that they are too similar though, as well.

I thought they might have been too similar, that's why I asked.

The post thing wouldn't be much of an issue as it would then be 'miss' and 'mr' but thank you anyway. Probably won't go with this anyway, I just really like both names.

Has anyone got any suggestions to go with Stanley? (we already have a Stanley)
