My baby boy is due Monday and I literally have no names I like. I have read the entire 3000 long list of boys names given last year and don't like any of them. What am I going to do?
I have loads of girls names I love but nothing for a boy!
I want something normal but not popular.
husband is no help as only suggest 2 names. One I hate and one is ok but rhymes with my daughters name which is massively off putting. (Think Benny and Jenny).
What can I do to solve this problem? Will inspiration strike when he's born? It's stressing me out.

I think you'll find that Patrick is a latin-derived name and is also popular in countries like France.
Conor and Liam are dated. They were very popular in the 1990s.

Irish names tend to be trendy and so date more quickly.

I disagree. e.g. Patrick. I know a toddler called Patrick, a guy in his mid 30s and someone else in his... well not actually sure but he’s an elderly chap. It works across all ages and definitely hasn’t dated.

Get your husband to come up with some names if he keeps vetoing things.

At the same time it does really help to see the baby.

I had no name for ages when I was born as parents had no idea what to call me. They had boy names but no girl.
I've turned out fine so there is no need to panic. Something will turn up, you can register the birth without a name I'm sure (or you could when I was born anyway!).

It makes me realise how many names DH vetoed. Rory, Niall, Joel were all suggested. He is very unhelpful!

I struggle with boys names a lot. My DS's name is John. I'm very unoriginal. Albeit, there aren't loads of primary school age John's about. Even Jonathon isn't particularly popular.

I love his name now but genuinely only decided a week after he was born as ExH was getting restless and being very unhelpful. It's similar to my father's middle name also which is nice, not that I thought of that at the time.

What are the 2 boys names your husband suggested? My top 5 boys names are Reuben, Cameron, Ethan, Flynn and Rory.

Thanks for the help. I'm hoping inspiration will strike on the day. DH seems to have an aversion to discussing this but will try out some of your suggestions tonight.

Go Irish that will help narrow it down and give some meaning. Lots of nice Irish names too.

Use the named together website. Pick a number of names that you each HAVE to tick then see where there is any crossover.

Scottish names tend to be nice, not too plain or too popular.
Irish names tend to be trendy and so date more quickly.
I would avoid Theo, Finn/Finley, Sebastian, Lewis, Jenson etc as these are trendy. I would also avoid (occupation) surname as first name.

Can't use Sam as is a relative.
Cormac is nice but not sure it's 'the one'. I like some of the Scottish names but don't have any Scottish connections. DH is Irish so might go down that route.
I know they grow into their names. It's just such a huge responsibility!

If you want something normal but not too popular, i love Scottish boys names and they tend to be just this!! Ewan, Fraser, Angus, Rory, Fergus, Callum... good luck deciding and congrats on your baby.
