What do you think of this for a girl?

Bunty is the nickname of a character in Father Brown. Her real name's Penelope.

Barmymammy · 15/01/2018 15:46

Makes me think of a stout, posh, middle aged lady with five labradors.

Loveache · 15/01/2018 15:45

They'll call her 'Cunty Bunty' at school...

loveablether · 15/01/2018 15:45

Nope 👎

FirstTimeMom12 · 15/01/2018 15:42

Don’t like it, how about Bonnie or Betsy?

HappyLollipop · 15/01/2018 15:41

Awful as a name but it'll be ok as a nickname or middle name

sirlee66 · 15/01/2018 15:38

Bunty as the shorted nick name.. don't know what the full name would be? Buntrice?

NauticalDisaster · 15/01/2018 15:35

"Come here, Short and Fat!"

Not a good name!

stopbeingadramallama · 15/01/2018 15:34

Cunty.
Not being horrible, I think it's okay, but she will be teased.

chewiecat · 15/01/2018 15:33

Sorry I hate it

IVflytrap · 15/01/2018 15:32

I think it's only ever been used as a nickname, not a given name? I read somewhere that it means something like "healthy-looking, good-looking in a chubby way". Apparently it's the southern version of the Northern/Scottish "Bonnie".

Personally I wouldn't, for the sound alone.

BattleCuntGalactica · 15/01/2018 15:30

That's a resoundingly terrible idea:

DerelictWreck · 15/01/2018 15:25

Bear in mind she'll get called Cunty

LittleMissCantbebothered · 15/01/2018 15:21

There is a blog called 'bunty living' and the writer, bunty, is pretentious and thinks the world revolves around her. I can't even think the name without shuddering.

LittleMissCantbebothered · 15/01/2018 15:20

There is a blog called 'bunty liv

SoftBlocks · 15/01/2018 15:17

Why???

PJsAndProsecco · 15/01/2018 15:16

My initial reaction is that it would be a nickname for someone. And that it's a little pretentious. Very Made In Chelsea wannabe...sorry!

Ginandanything · 15/01/2018 15:16

Rather too close to Cunty for comfort.

Kids will be cruel . . .

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/01/2018 15:12

My nan's dog was called Bunty, and it's the name of a comic.

elQuintoConyo · 15/01/2018 15:10

Fabulous! Very 1920s Bertie Wooster - in a good way.

crunchymint · 15/01/2018 15:08

I didn't know that!!

chocatoo · 15/01/2018 15:04

If you look it up, Bunty is a 'pet' name for a short, stout, plump person. That would rule it out for me...

scurryfunge · 15/01/2018 15:01

It was the name of my favourite comic as a child.

plus3 · 15/01/2018 15:01

My dog was called Bunty. I absolutely loved her, so think it is a great name...

crunchymint · 15/01/2018 15:00

I love it, but wasn't too sure if it sounded too posh.
