Martina?

What do you think of Martina? Sister is Lucia and we wanted a name to match the cuteness of that.

DH likes Frida but I am not sure on that.
Do you like Frida or Martina?
Or do you have a suggestion with an Italian or Latin name to suit?

Just came across the name Nuria, pronounced NOO-ree-a i believe.
Would that go with Lucia?
Loved it but have to run it by DH
Seems we like the OO sound in names a lot...

Interesting about Nina, I had a classmate at school named Nina (nickname for Christina) and don’t know why but it just turned me off the name completely. Do like it’s simlicity though
Daisypond, never thought about the hippyish aspect for Luna... Maybe that’s why it doesn’t click with me, something putting me off about it...
Lottie, I like but would my child hate me when she grows up? Does Lottie even compare to Lucia?
Are there other names that sound as sweet as Lottie but feel more grownup?

I don't like Martina, sorry.

Lottie is fine, but I'm not a fan of nickname-names, so I would opt for Charlotte nn Lottie.
Luna is nice, but I can see it getting popular
Marina, nice.

I absolutely LOVE Frida! It ticks every box for me.

Francesca is a beautiful Italian name.
Mariana may be a martina compromise.

We have put down 3 choices now:
Luna, Lottie and Marina
DH vetoed all other choices.

His favourites in order of preference:
Lottie (I like this for a child but for an adult?)
Luna (need to get over “lunatic” connection)
Marina (sweet but know already 7 Marinas)

Also Luna and Lottie are in the top 100s, how popular are they likely to be? Like to use a name that’s not in the top 100 or at least not in the top 50...

I think Frida is probably a little bit too Germanic to match Lucia. I like Martina though - have you though about Marta too?

Martina sounds German to me (have known several German Martinas). Nothing wrong with that, but to my ear it would go better with a sister called Greta, Heidi or Astrid.

Aside from that I have a slight aversion to names which sound like a man's name with a girlie bit tagged on the end (Thomasina etc).

These sound better with Lucia to me: Ramona, Allegra, Marisa, Cosima, Lilian, Clara, Marisol, Yolanda, Sabrina, Anna, Miranda...

Top Spanish names recently: Sofía, Isabela, Bella, Camila, Valentina, Martina, Lucia. Valeria, Emma, Lucia.
Interesting that Martina is now popular in both Spain and Italy. I personally am not keen on Luna as a name. It's a bit hippyish compared to the classic Lucia.

If you're pronouncing the S in Lucia, that would maybe indicate you're using the Spanish pronunciation, as the Italian is more like Loo-chee-uh. Maybe you should be looking at more Spanish names for DD2.

Love Aurelia but DH doesn’t
He tends to like shorter names like Luna, Lilou, Leila/ Lila, Lottie (last one I find a bit too cutesy)...

Thought I can suggest Greta too I saw in a reply post but I don’t find it as grand as Lucia is to me
Luna was the one we both thought it’s interesting, he loves it in fact.
How bad is it if we went with Luna as a sister to Lucia?
Leila is another option and the Nora but we don’t love these
