Martina?

What do you think of Martina? Sister is Lucia and we wanted a name to match the cuteness of that.

DH likes Frida but I am not sure on that.
Do you like Frida or Martina?
Or do you have a suggestion with an Italian or Latin name to suit?

Martina is a young trendy name in Italy at the moment. You won't find many over 25 but you'll find a lot under 12. Many women christened Marta are given Martina when they are younger and then grow into Marta.

I think of all your suggestions it's still the one that goes best with Lucia.

Ottilie is pronounced OT-ill-ee. It sound a bit like Utterly or Otterly so I would not use it.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes That was so funny 😂Basically yes I’m searching the internet for new exciting names and that’s the problem, you can find sines gems and some OMG what were the parents thinking kind of names...
Glad Coralie is not completely off though. There is also Coralia and I actually knew someone with that name... But I find Coralie more elegant for some reason
Muffmuff I love Lola but DH not convinced, he said it’s from Manuela usually and the diminutive is Lolita and that kind of throws him off, it may grow on him though...

I know a little Freida as well, I think it's a wonderful name. Ottilie is okay.

Altaluna, Nuria and Coralie (maybe not Coralie) all sound just a tiny bit 'we've just been through the baby name book' - as in, if you didn't know them/really like them as a name before, then take a bit of time to really see if you love it.

I had my 'just read the baby name book' list and someone gave me that ^^ advice, that - thank goodness - I listened to. I had some crazy shit on that list Grin

I have a friend with a Frida (Freida I think) and I am sure she has never been called Friday by anyone.

I came across Coralie which I will mention to DH, I love it with the FR pronunciation.

I’m not fond of Cora on its own, though it is Fine but Coralie has something elegant about it I like...

And when I compare Ottilie and Coralie, the latter seems softer I think though I love them both ...
and Lucia and Coralie I think sound nice
Up to DH now, hope he will not reject it Smile

The Lucia I know has a sister called Sophia (or Sofia, not sure how it's spelt as it's Lucia who is the same age as one of mine).

I like it but we know too many Martas and that puts me off...
We are now leaning towards Ottilie (with the possibility of the Lottie nickname)
But fear the Otter connection some people hear and how it will be pronounced by Relatives overseas ...
I know most names will have an issue though so we just have to choose wisely and see what “issues” we don’t mind.
Personally i don’t mind correcting a mispronunciation of a name as long as the same person can actually say the name easily after hearing the correct sound...

How would you pronounce Ottilie?

Need to think this through and run some names by DH
It’s true I’m not convinced of Luna myself. I love it but I don’t know if I can live with it for DD... I also came across the name Altaluna (nickname Luna) which I thought sounded a bit more grand (but still not sure really)

Holly is another option,one of my favourite EN names but with our Latin surname I’m not sure how that will sound and whether Holly is boring compared to Lucia...
Or maybe Ottilie will be nice

Nuria is best out of your reduced options. It does sound nice but it's quite a strongly Arabic girls' name to me. It also means "light", like Lucia. So both would have names that mean the same. Maybe that's nice, though. I don't like Lutie and I'll never come around to Luna. How about Luisa? That has the oo sound you like and it's Spanish/Italian and is a classic name like Lucia. Perhaps it's too similar. Ruby? Julia? Susanna?

Nuria is alright, but I don't like Lutie. Reminds me of a flute or a lute.

Wow I know I’m going crazy 😮 but knowing my love for the OO sound in names I came across the name Lutie and I love it

Will that work?
Lucia and Lutie
Just don’t know what the meaning is and where it is used...
So we have:
Lucia and Luna
Lucia and Nuria
Lucia and Lutie ( love this more than Lottie)
Which one will work best? Do you like any of these?

Others’ opinions matter to me as I want her to have as pretty name as her sister’s. Well I consider Lucia pretty...
Thought Luna was sweet, but maybe Nuria is equally nice and goes better with Lucia?
