I know a lovely Matilda, who is called Tildy and quite like that. I think Victoria is a bit old fashioned. Quite like Sophie and not keen on Katherine with a K but quite like it with a C. If I had another child though I think I would call her Caitlin and shorten it to Cate.

Vita Sackville-West was a Victoria so it's definitely a valid nn. I know a Victoria and she was only Vicky briefly at secondary school by a few people.

All those names are in my family so they all sound great to me!

Sophie is gorgeous. Prefer it to the currently very fashionable Sophia. Katherine is very nice and very classic.

Matilda and Victoria are both fine, though.

I like it as well.

I’ve never heard / seen those used for Victoria but Ria, Tia and Rory might work as well.

And maybe Vita (for Vittoria)?

Victorias in some European countries are called 'Vika'. It's nice.

I don’t think a Victoria will necessarily be a Vicky, I know three, one is nn Tori, one is Tia and one is Vic. I think Tori is the much much more common nn these days over Vicky.

In saying that, Katharine and Matilda are both lovely.

Katherine - I like this.
Matilda - I've only ever taught bold Matildas, so it has soured me on the name.
Sophie - I like it, but it is very popular in schools now ime.
Victoria - I also like this. Couldnt see myself using it but it's a nice name.

So, Victoria or Katherine for me!

I like all of them. Don't get the dislikes for Victoria. I think it's a pretty name.
As for Matilda, I like it but Tilly just sounds awful to me.

My order of preference is Matilda, Sophie, Katherine and Victoria.
