Aurelia or Claudia ?

We made a name list and these are the front runners. Which one do you like best?

Aurelia is beautiful, I find Claudia an ugly name - never liked it. Shortened to Claud it's worse.

Both on our list, if I had to choose between them I would probably go with Claudia though. Aurelia is very pretty but agree with previous posters about having to go round correcting people on pronunciation.

My own name is fine to pronounce but a slightly different spelling than the norm, correcting (or pre-empting before they ask) people about your name can be a PITA.

I love Aurelia so much I really wanted it for my daughter but I was worried about people mispronouncing it. We did some 'tests' with family and a lot of them struggled so we decided against it. I still regret it sometimes though!

I don't like meaning of Claudia nor the English pronunciation as Claw-dia.

Aurelia is beautiful.

Aurelia is a complete mouthful to pronounce.

I don't like Claudia, honestly, but I really don't like Aurelia. I also get areola vibes, and I just think the sound of the name is unattractive.

Both are nice but I prefer Claudia. It's on my list if DC2 is a girl but DH doesn't like it and DM turned her nose up! But I think it's beautiful.

I love Claudia.

But I also love Aurelia because it makes me think of the Portuguese woman in Love Actually and the way her name was pronounced with the accent was just gorgeous Grin

Claudia. Aurelia....just don't like the sound of it. Also people would say/spell it wrong all the time. Also it's a bit close to areola. Claudia is a nice, traditional and classic. You couldn't really judge a kid called Claudia as it is not overly girly or trendy or cutesy or frumpy.

These were both on my list. We went with Claudia. Gets loads of compliments. Haven’t met another yet (there’s an Aurelia at her nursery).
