Mumsnetters please help - our baby is due is just a few weeks and me and my partner can't agree on a boys name!

We are looking for a traditional but unusual boys name - I loved theodore, jasper and Ezra, he loves Freddie which I'm.just not keen on.

I'd like a something that can be shortned to a nice nickname. Any ideas??

Sorry fox is the surname! I love some of the names suggested thank you - we also stumbled upon Harrison Fox, which could be shortened to Harry. Is that too similar to Harrison Ford though? Obviously a very different generation but I wouldn't want him to be bombarded with comparisons growing up...

Freddie Fox's dad sells everything in packs of five! Or ten... Or something!
I love Jasper.

Can be Maxwell or Maxamilian.

Following just to find out which bit of the name fox is.

MikeUniformMike · 11/01/2018 21:27

Don't like any of your choices.
I'd go for something a bit more traditional like Oliver, Edward, Matthew, James, Peter etc.

Yes what is the fox?

Surname? Sibling? Middle name or forename for new baby?

Growingboys · 11/01/2018 21:20

Not Freddie Fox!

Theo Fox sounds cool

Ezra Fox is an awesome name! (Also a good sibling pair if Fox is in fact a brother)

Theodore Fox is also great.

Not Freddie Fox

I am sure there was a thread on here a while ago with a MNetter seeking opinions on the name Monty to go with the surname Fox. I thought that sounded fab!!

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 11/01/2018 20:53

Oh sorry- is Fox the surname? I thought it was the first name and we were looking for a middle name. Grin

I like Jasper and Ezra

As in Fox is the last name? There’s already a Freddie Fox - he’s an actor.

I also wouldn’t go for Theodore as Teddy Fox sounds very twee.

How about:
Alfred
Albert
Oscar
Henry

Is Fox your surname or a sibling's name?

I like all your choices by the way, particularly Jasper.

tarheelbaby · 11/01/2018 20:44

I knew a family:
Jamie (James)
Johnnie (John or Jonathan)
Toby (Tobias)
Angus

There are lots of good names up thread and I agree with others that Freddie is not a good idea plus would avoid alliteration in general: who needs double F, ffs.
