What do you think of the name Cheryl ? Or Cherie ?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
flapjackfairy · 08/01/2018 08:02

The comment that your child will have to contend with girls with popular pretty names at school made me smile as Agnes, Elsie and other previously considered awful old lady names are all the rage again.
It all goes in circles and if you like the name that is what is important . Personally though i am not a fan

Farmerswife36 · 08/01/2018 07:58

Oh dear hearing that adult Cheryl is even worse Sad

OP posts:
HuskyMcClusky · 08/01/2018 07:39

I know an adult Cherrill, which is even more unattractive.

AuntieStella · 08/01/2018 07:02

I quite like Cheryl (and think that spelling is way nicer than Cherelle)

Cherie is too associated with Blair for me.

ChocolateCrunch · 08/01/2018 06:59

Don't like either

HuskyMcClusky · 08/01/2018 03:39

It is hideous. As are Meryl, Beryl and Daryl.

TeaAndToast85 · 07/01/2018 23:16

Sorry to add to the chorus of nope, OP, but Cheryl feels like such an old fashioned name...and I immediately think of Cheryl Cole Sad

ThomasNightingale · 07/01/2018 23:16

Names that are not yet on trend can be good, they can be cutting edge and suddenly you find five years on that every maternity ward is full of them. But by my reckoning it’ll be a good twenty years before Cheryl is due a revival.

TabbyCat864 · 07/01/2018 23:12

Cherie is okay.

The 'ie' ending is popular now. Cherry is also a name that could be considered as quite modern.

PinkAvocado · 07/01/2018 23:07

I don’t like it. Cherie is a bit better but still not a name I’d choose. However, it’s not a hideous name and if I was called it, I wouldn’t completely hate it.

theconstantinoplegardener · 07/01/2018 23:03

Well...I like the sound of Cheryl. It's pretty, to my ear. But it does sound a bit dated now. I think I would only use it as a middle name.

Cbaanymore123 · 07/01/2018 22:59

Ohhhh our Baby Cheryl pet.

Please don't Smile

badg3r · 07/01/2018 22:57

Awful. Both of them. Sorry OP!

stopbeingadramallama · 07/01/2018 22:54

Hate it. Makes me think of Cheryl Cole.. yuck.

mumgointhroughtorture · 07/01/2018 22:54

Please don't ! Poor child , in this day and age she would be amongst girls with pretty and fashionable names ...

Flyingflipflop · 07/01/2018 22:54

Cheryl is ok in the Land of Make Believe, and was ok When We Were Young. Now Those Days Have Gone.

However OP, you better start Making Your Mind Up.

AmysTiara · 07/01/2018 22:54

I don't mind Cheryl. It does make me think of Cheryl Cole though.

Ohyesiam · 07/01/2018 22:51

Horrid name I'm afraid.

Mrsknackered · 07/01/2018 22:51

Not nice, sorry.

elQuintoConyo · 07/01/2018 22:50

Horrible. Not because of any Cole/Blair connections, just horrible.

Cherelle, however, is pure class Grin

CocoLoco87 · 07/01/2018 22:47

Baby Names threads can be more brutal than AIBU! Grin

JollyGiraffe · 07/01/2018 22:44

It's really not that bad!

If I met a baby Cheryl I wouldn't think it was awful.

I prefer Cheryl to Cherie Smile

And I don't think it's chavvy, or horrible, or awful, or horrific, or shit!

BuzzKillington · 07/01/2018 22:29

Is it really such a horrible name??

Are you joking now?

It's bloody awful, yes.

Farmerswife36 · 07/01/2018 22:20

??

FaceOddity · 07/01/2018 22:20
