Annie is a great name. But I would say that 😉

SuperBeagle · 07/01/2018 20:22

I love Annie, and Annie is much nicer than Mabel.

FizzyGreenWater · 07/01/2018 19:47

Annie short for Anwen

harrietm87 · 07/01/2018 18:23

Love love Anne. I think it's such an elegant straightforward name. Can't you call her that on birth certificate and Annie day to day?

She may want a less cutesy name when she's older. My friends Annie and Tessie both reverted to Anne and Tessa when they started work for example (still Annie and Tessie to everyone else).

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 17:03

Oh I’m so conflicted🙈

I just think Anne, Anna or Anya are so much nicer.

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 17:02

Ken our DD has an ‘old lady’ name too so it would fit but I do think we will get a few raised eyebrows.

I have an Annie and she's fab! Have taught a few Annies and they've all been brilliant girls.

horatioisabrick · 07/01/2018 17:02

Arianna Mabel nn Annie?

Cupcakegirl13 · 07/01/2018 17:02

Annie has been a name in it's owner right for over a century , it's lovely . Annie Mabel is cute

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 17:02

Freddie I do like Nancy but I had a cat with that name and when she got run over I was traumatised-so Nancy is a no go too.

How about Anya? That's another Anna diminutive, a Russian one, that I think sounds OK as a full name.

KenForPM · 07/01/2018 16:59

Mabel just sounds too old-lady to me. Annie is nice, but I would probably have it as a shortening for something else.
Having said that about Mabel, old-lady chic does seem to be coming back a bit with regard to names. It’s certainly a contrast to all the Lily-Maes and Darcie-Graces etc.

TinoTheArtisticMouse · 07/01/2018 16:57

Annemarie or Marianne?

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 07/01/2018 16:55

Anne and Anna are lovely imo. I personally don’t love Annie (a bit too ‘nickname-y’) but it is cute, easy to pronounce, spell, not too popular...
Do you like Nancy?

Santasbigredbobblehat · 07/01/2018 16:54

I know a baby just called Annie. I must admit I thought that was a little unusual. I knew a girl at school who was Annie, from Anne.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/01/2018 16:51

Mabel. I've never liked Annie. Sounds harsh to me but I like Anna.

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 16:49

Unfortunately I don’t seem to like any of the longer versions Freddie and I’m not keen on Amabel as it seems like Annabel said weirdly to me.

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 07/01/2018 16:46

think I agree, I love Annie but not keen on Anne/Anna and my friend has an Annabel. I think Mabel is still the one but I can’t shift thinking about Annie-there is a family link to Ann too

Hm... do you like Annelie, Anastasia, Annika, Anita, Annabeth, Annaliese, Anneke, Annette, Anina or Annora?

Backhometothenorth · 07/01/2018 16:45

My eldest is Annie. Love her name

daisypond · 07/01/2018 16:43

Could you consider Amabel? That's the original name of which Mabel is a diminutive.

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 16:43

Thank you, Mabel will definitely either be first or middle name though

OP posts:
Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 07/01/2018 16:43

I love Anna, but I think Annie is a kind of toddler diminutive?

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 07/01/2018 16:42

Annie is better than Mabel. But it’s still a nn....

Anna Mabel?
Or maybe Amabel or Annabel with an other middle name (obviously not Mabel... maybe Edith, Polly, Peggy, Sybil, Cora, Poppy, Susan, Maud?)

Motherofbabydragons · 07/01/2018 16:40
