I love Mabel !!

Tansilie · 10/01/2018 20:45

Annie is sweet. It does make me think of little girls and elderly ladies though. I don't think of the young children with Mabel though.

BillyAndTheSillies · 10/01/2018 18:48

Love Annie, it's our first choice for a girl. DH's granny was Annie, not a NN.
Think Annie is nice enough without it being a NN. But maybe that's because we know a few Annie's that are adults so it doesn't seem strange.
Other Annie's that we know as nn's are Aneira and Anastasia.

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2018 18:40

Anwen is a long form of Ann. It's very old-fashioned (probably someone aged 65-75) but popular with non-Welsh speakers. Don't like it.

Joinourclub · 10/01/2018 17:35

I think Annie is lovely. I've only taught one, and she was a really cool and funny girl.

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2018 17:27

Annie is lovely and is fine as a BC name. Annie Mabel Dragons is great.

MelanieSmooter · 10/01/2018 17:17

My DM is an Anne but hates it and has gone as Annie her entire adult life. I’m fairly sure her ‘toddler’ name hasn’t held her back - she’s management in an NHS Trust Wink I love the name Annie but won’t use it as it seems a bit much to choose my mums name, particularly as I like it rather than it being because it’s her name iyswim?

Aurea · 10/01/2018 17:06

I'm an Annabel but my close friends and family call me Annie. Both names are pretty uncommon, from my experience.

My full name is Annabel Joy.

TabbyCat864 · 10/01/2018 17:02

Annie is very precocious.

Much prefer Mabel.

Motherofbabydragons · 10/01/2018 12:30

Thanks! After reading so many comments that it was people’s grandma full name on birth certificates I feel more reassured that it is a name in its own right. It also fits with my DD old fashioned name for this reason. It’s officially number one contender! Thank you all :)

I dislike Annie unless as a nn. Anne?

ScreamingValenta · 09/01/2018 22:24

Anna, with Annie as NN.

TatianaLarina · 09/01/2018 22:21

Mabel is deeply frumpy.

IHeartKingThistle · 09/01/2018 22:17

It's gorgeous and cool and strong and you know it. Use it.

biased

Puremince · 09/01/2018 22:14

My grandmother (born 1902) and my great-grandmother's sister (born 1890s) both had Annie on their birth certificates, so for me it's an "old lady" name, not a cutesy toddler name. I love it! If we'd had another DD it would have been on our shortlist.

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 21:57

By change over I mean the name...not the baby!!😂😂😂

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 21:56

Were you born with red/light hair? Maybe we will have to do a quick change over if she comes out with red hair🙈 My hair is curly too so she could end up a doppelgänger😂

OP posts:
KenForPM · 09/01/2018 21:53

The red hair could still come out. Both my parents have dark hair and I’m a redhead. I don’t know where it comes from, none of my living relatives have red hair.
As long as your surname isn’t Hannigan or Warbucks you should be OK Grin people might find it cute!!

Motherofbabydragons · 09/01/2018 21:45

Thank you ladies! I can’t stop thinking about Annie! I think it might be ‘the one’ the only problem is I have a family of redheads😂😂 Both me and OH are dark though and DD is darkish so we should be ok but it’s playing on my mind!

Annie is lovely whatever age. Mabel is a tuck, sorry! Like May, like Belle do not like Mabel- ugly name IMO!

ChimpyChops · 09/01/2018 21:33

And in actual answer to your post, I love both names but not together. They don't flow to me. Bith beautiful though.

ChimpyChops · 09/01/2018 21:32

My niece us Annabelle Mabel. I adore her name. Beautiful 😍

Lucylululu · 09/01/2018 17:59

I love them both!!! So pretty! I think 'Annie Mabel' flows a bit better than 'Mabel Annie' though. But both are super cute!

Oysterbabe · 08/01/2018 15:41

If DS had been DD he'd have been Annika, NN Anni.
