We have the following on our list but I can't seem to decide. What do you like best from it? If there others you can suggest based on what we like I'm happy to hear alternatives.

We don't want anything in the current top 40. We both appear to like quite traditional names, although we want to stay clear of anything currently very popular.

Felicity
Dorothy
Bridget
Verity
Meredith
Harriet
Edith
Claudia

Felicity, Verity or Claudia. All lovely names!

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 08/01/2018 22:09

All nice names but Verity is my favourite

Are you sure Harriet isn't top 40, I know loads!?

yellowplumpreserves · 08/01/2018 22:04

My favourites are Edith, Felicity and Verity (in that order). I have liked the name Edith since I was a teenager, but DH didn't go for it.

Patal · 08/01/2018 21:21

Meredith is a beautiful name

Starryskiesinthesky · 08/01/2018 18:12

Only like Claudia. At a push Meredith.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/01/2018 17:53

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/01/2018 17:52

Harrier then Claudia.

Verity and Felicity are my favourites.

Bridget, Meredith and Claudia are my least favourites.

MrsBungle · 08/01/2018 17:23

Meredith is lovely. I like Claudia too.

WildRosesGrow · 08/01/2018 17:22

Most of your names sound like the plain girl in an old fashioned novel. Sorry, it's just what came to mind! I can't imagine the heroine being called Bridget, more her loyal best friend. I quite like Claudia, positive connations with Claudia Winklemann but am not keen on Claud, which it gets shortened too.

If you are going for uncommon, Harriet is quite popular, I've known a couple of my children's friends called this, also know a little Edith (always called Edie). I know older ladies called Dorothy (always Dot) and Felicity (never shortened but I find it difficult to say and would have found it impossible as a child).

Do you like the other 'virtue' names, e.g. Charity, Constance, Hope, Faith? Might be other options in the same vein.

BlackberryandNettle · 08/01/2018 17:15

Florence?

BlackberryandNettle · 08/01/2018 17:14

Along the same lines I think... Beatrice, Matilda

BlackberryandNettle · 08/01/2018 17:13

All nice, I'd go for Verity, Claudia or Dorothy. Fwiw I know a couple of each of Harriet, Meredith and Felicity

Gacapa · 07/01/2018 23:12

Claudia

mum2be2boys · 07/01/2018 22:18

I like all of them! My favourites are Bridget and Harriet :-)

158ff · 07/01/2018 20:57

Dorothy and Harriet

Smugnogplease · 07/01/2018 20:50

Claudia! Mine Claud is 8, she loves her name and is the only one in school/we've only ever met one other. (S/west) she loves to tell people her name as the response is always fabulous! She's a Claudi sometimes but mainly Claude!

C0untDucku1a · 07/01/2018 20:47

Claudia or meredith
