Was struggling with girls names but DH suggested Brianna. Pronounced Breeanna.
I like that it's unusual but not unheard of and the shortening of Bree is pretty too.

What do you think, yay or nay?

It's an Americanisation of an Irish name. The only one I know is American. She is lovely though so it has good associations for me.

I really like it. Unless you are from Tarth and likely to have a very tall, strapping girl.

It's not an American name it's Celtic and existed long before the outlander series and books.
It's a beautiful name but here in Ireland there's a couple of ways of pronouncing it, "Brie na" been the one it'd heard most and prefer if I'm honest.

It's the female equivalent of the Irish name Brian. Definitely not American.

To everyone saying it's an American name, it has Celtic roots.
(Though as half of Americans seem to identify as Irish or Scottish it's maybe no surprise that names from those countries are popular over there)

Not a name I would have chosen but now know a beautiful and very lovely Brianna and so it has a lovely 'glow' about it as a name!

It's v American.

I am not keen on male names with an 'a' on the end. Brian, Alan, Nigel etc

I just think of the infinitely annoying Brianna Randall from Outlander.

It's v American which is not my cup of tea. Much prefer Bryony.
