I'm still TTC at the moment but already have a shortlist of girls names I really like and I'd love your honest opinions on each.

After writing a long list on my phone it was obvious that I have a penchant for girl names beginning with "E", and only E names will do it would seem :)

So here is my shortlist....some I like more than others and I have a favourite (I think) but would love to hear everyones opinions.....

Elena (pronounced e-LEN-ah)
Elle
Ella
Emma
Emmy

If it matters we have a two syllable (quite boring) surname and we will be choosing two middle names (family tradition).

Oh I misread, you’re ttc. Hopefully pg soon

Badhairday1001 · 06/01/2018 00:22

I love Esme as an E name.

CandyCaneCaz · 06/01/2018 00:22

My best friend called her new baby girl Etta. I love it. So unusual

rainbowstardrops · 06/01/2018 00:21

I quite like Elle or Ella.

How about
Eden
Erin
Elize/Eliza
Ebony
Eva
Edie

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/01/2018 00:21

Emmy, that’s a labradoodle name

Badhairday1001 · 06/01/2018 00:20

Elena and Emma for me too. I also quite like Emmy but think it might be babyish for anyone over the age of 10.

hattiehollow · 06/01/2018 00:20

Ella and Emma are decent, solid names, thought neither will set the world alight. Not at all keen on Elle. Emmy is a nickname, too obviously short for Emma, and Elena will cause constant pronunciation problems - not fair on the child in my opinion. I would pronounce it Ellen-a which you say is wrong?

EssentialHummus · 06/01/2018 00:20

Ooh, Elise is good! Otherwise Elena for me.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/01/2018 00:20

Congratulations on pg!

Ok to the names
Elena (pronounced e-LEN-ah) if you’re going to be really specific about that pronunciation I see it being problematic. I wouldn’t pronounce as e-LEN-ah. I’d say ELLE- En -Ah. So be aware everyone won’t pronounce your way
All the other names I like
Elle so long as your surname isn’t woods
Ella
Emma

Lovey! I have an Emma who is friends with an Ella and an Elenya.

Other E names I love are:
Elodie, Ellen, Eliza, Elsbeth, Erin, Eva, Esme

Mrsknackered · 06/01/2018 00:18

I like Elle and Emma. Emmy short for Emmeline is nice.

What about Elise?

UnitedKungdom · 06/01/2018 00:16

Like Elena and Emma.

Elle feels tacky. Ella seems wishywashy and Emmy is a bit cutsie/silly.

Just my own personal impression of those names.
