Georgiana or Arianna?

I am currently expecting dd3 and I am looking for a classical type of name to run alongside my other dd's names (which obviously I won't state here because I could well 'out' myself).
Georgiana was my first thought but dh doesn't like the shortened version of Georgie.
The second name which has come to mind other than Mariella (which has been ruled out because it is too close to dd1's name) is Arianna - which I presumed could be shortened to Anna.
Thoughts on Georgiana and Arianna please...or any other similar suggestions...

I really think that if you named a girl Arianna right now, many people would think Grande, and assume you were a big fan or something!

But maybe I'm not cultured enough!

Love Georgiana. It will likely be shortened to Georgie though you could easily push for Georgia, George, Annie, Ana without people blinking an eyelid

Arianna is pretty but it seems like a name that will date. I don't find it as lovely as Georgiana

DD is Georgiana (Georgie) Rose. I love it we know no one else with the name and is not even on the top 1000 in the Uk. Arianna reminds me of Arianna Grande, but you could always see what she looks like Smile

I'd say Arianna is a bit too similar to Arabella too. I think most people would say Georgy-ahna too.
I like Georgie, Georgia, Georgiana and Georgina.
Arianna is pretty but I wouldn't know if it was Arry-anna or Ar-yanna.
Arabella is lovely.

Yes, Mike, sorry for the delay in getting back to you...as you say...Georgy-ahna. DH prefers the name Georgiana to Arianna and as another poster says Arianna is not so classical. At the risk of being outed...her siblings are called Arabella and Eleanor (Belle and Elle) - we now think the name Arianna is too similar to Arabella. Thanks for taking the time to look up this name!

My memory has obviously failed me as I could have sworn it was pronounced Georgie-ahna in the Colin Firth version

If I heard George-ayna, I would assume there were referring to a Georgina with a funny accent!

Thanks shagged. She was George-ayna in the tv series with Emilia Fox playing her and Colin Firth as Mr Darcy.

I prefer Georgina to Georgiana - the extra syllable makes it a mouthful IMO

My friend Georgina never gets called Georgie but it does get shortened to George which she seems not to mind

I like Arianna but not sure it falls into the classic category

I really love Estella

We've got a Georgiana - she gets called all sorts (mainly by me!). Mostly Georgiana but often GiGi, Georgie, George, Anna, Gianna in play. I love it. Go with Georgiana!

Any more thoughts on this debate? Still undecided. Not sure about the shortened name George/Georgie but could shorten to Ana, I suppose. Whereas Arianna could be shortened to Anna.

Thanks for all other replies so far. Having two dds already, we are struggling for another girls name that we both adore.

Thanks ladies. Ariella is pretty but too similar to dd1 and 2 names I think unfortunately. I don't think I would be too bothered if her name was misread as Georgina because this is lovely too imo. Any other suggestions/comments very welcome though...still deciding.

Everyone will misread/misspell Georgiana as Georgina, and she's virtually guaranteed to end up being called Georgie.
