WDYT of Ari for DS? DD has a fairly unusual name and we feel like this really ‘goes’ with her name. Opinions please?

Thank you, adding Arden to the list but think maybe something more traditional like Arthur or Arnold would suit more long term, really not sure🤔

I was watching tv last night and they had an American called Arie. He pronounced it "Are-rie".

Thanks, a lot to think about. We are thinking of using Ari as a diminutive of a longer name now to give him more options and hopefully eliminate the Harry issue.

I would think it's a shortened version of Arianna. And there will be a lifetime of 'Harry?' mispronunciations.

Like other posters it just sounds like Harry to me, or a shortened version of Arianna etc. I wouldn't be keen on being named it myself.

I'm all for keeping names with their original spelling, but this won't sound unique to many people - just 'arry.

The Aris I know are female. All shortened from Arianne. I think in the U.K most people would assume it was a girl's name.

I immediately think of Ari Up, punk singer (female). I sort of like it but it will be taken as 'arry by many people.

If you pronounce it Are-ee then it will be spelt wrong. If you pronounce it Arree then it will be spelt wrong.

Sorry, I have a stupid name spelling and I wouldn't lump a child with it as it's a constant lifelong annoyance. Don't give him a name he will have to spell repeatedly for his entire life even if it does sound nice.

I assumed it was a girl's name when I first read it...as in short for Ariana or Ariadne
