DH likes Benedict, my response was ‘never’.

I do like the name but the ‘dic’ is rather unfortunate, isn’t it?

Why not call him Ben. That's a really lovely name and cannot be shortened.

Benedict was the name of the previous Pope who wore lovely red shoes.

Was called Pope Benny though.

I went to school with a couple of Benedicts and DS chose it as his confirmation name.
I think it’s a lovely name and have only heard it shortened to Ben.

It wouldn’t occur to me to think that Dickie could be short for Benedict. I know 3. 2 are known as Ben and one is always Benedict.

I went to school with a Dickon! I don’t remember him being teased for his name.

Oops, sorry. We wouldn’t call him Dick(ie). But I’d be worried about >Benedict’s< classmates and other children...

The one I know is 'Ben'

The only Dick I know was a Richard, and he was a dick

It’s a great name. The ones I know are shortened to Ben (obvs).
