Indian / Welsh girls names - help please!

Baby girl due any time soon and we haven’t decided on a name!

She will be of mixed Welsh and Indian (Punjabi Sikh but we’re not religious) heritage and I would love a short name that reflects both if possible?! Any ideas?!

Have always loved Miri, Miriam! But they seem a bit too Middle Eastern/Muslim for us as we don’t have any connection there.

I also love:

Rhosyn - but the ‘Rh’ is hard for non-Welsh speakers, I imagine it would get pronounced ‘Rosyn’
Rosma - too Middle Eastern

From your list Asha is my favourite bit people will get the hang of Ani - as they do Ana from eastern Europe - and Nia is pretty too. I think Devi is too close to Dewi and Eira is gorgeous but it would appear to attract a little controversy Xmas Grin - congratulations on your baby girl OP Flowers

I like Eira and as you live in Wales most people will know it and you could get a Welsh speaker to teach you the perfect pronunciation. There are also a few Gwen-Eiras around Snow white. If you like a fairy tale name.

Devi - Seems to close to Devil and Divvie
Ani - Neutral
Saffir - I like this one
Arian - I only know boys called this.
Asha - I like this, similar to Aisha
Eira - I wouldn't know how to pronounce this
Vin - Not a huge fan of this for a full name?

I have Pnjabi/seek friend called "Mala" which I think is beautiful and it's not too traditional, in face Google says it has Hebrew origins. She pronounces it "Marla" but I hear her parent's pronounce it without the R which equally sounds good. Really love the name.

A lot of traditional Welsh and traditional Indian names have Middle Eastern roots. Nihal/Nehel/Nehal for example

How about Sarrah? I have a friend who's the same mix and she was named this by her parents. I'm guessing it could work in both languages. She pronounces it sah-rah

I love Eira, my second choice would be Nia from your list.

We live in Wales and have boys with very Welsh names. We considered Carys, Eleri, Alys, Angharad and Sioned if they'd been girls.

Eiriol would get called Aerial.
Sorry for being pedantic but it's tough on a child having a name that's mispronounced, misspelt etc. Ei isn't Ay - it's shorter. I am fluent mother tongue north walian and know several Eiras (and Eirians, Meiras, Eifions, Eilirs, Eirlysiau, Einirs, Meinirs ...)
How about a name that is easy to pronounce. I'm not keen on it but Seren is popular on here.
Nia should be easy and it's a beautiful name.
Mali is cute.

Think it’s going to have to be either Welsh or Indian- finding one that makes sense as both is too difficult!

Or you could go for neither Smile My kids are mixed and we opted not to go for an Indian name or classically "English" name. Or you could go for a Welsh first name and Indian middle name (or vice versa) to include both sides of their heritage?
