I prefer Henry, Harry and Harold but Harris is still lovely. Great name imo :)!

(Harrison is also a surname imo, btw.)

Really @Fekko? I'm in the central belt. Wouldn't say it's massively common but I think it's a fairly popular boys name. In fact a quick google tells me it was the 13th most popular boys name in Scotland last year

This is funny. Harris is a perfectly ordinary first name for boys in Scotland.

I have the rhyming connotation too. It's pronounced 'Aris in my dialect, so it isn't pretty.

I love it. It will be DC2's name (due in a few weeks) if we have a boy. We're Scottish so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Those of you making a connection with Rolf Harris are being ridiculous imo.

Well I'm biased as I have one (live in northern England). It gets lots of lovely comments and we've never come across another :) not yet had any Harrison/Harry/arse confusion but it's easily corrected.

I love it. In Scotland no one would bat an eyelid and it’s not even faintly “out there” although not common at all.

I've only known it's a surname (in Scotland). I associate it with tweed, or the isle of.

I like it but I've never heard the arse reference. 'Harrison' seems to be so common these days so that would put me off

All the Haris/Harrises I have known have been Muslim (or at least from Turkish or other traditionally Muslim backgrounds). I've known it spelt both ways.
