I love it but have had a couple of Hmm reactions when I’ve mentioned it as a possibility!

Wilf, Fred. Wilfred Owen was a pretty cool bloke too.

I teach a Wilf, no one bats an eyelid Grin

I’ve known a young Wilf a few years back, it really suited him. Love the name, I think it’s adorable. But not Wilfred I’m afraid.

Reallytired17 · 14/12/2017 21:16

I have to agree on Ernest! Grin

I know several little Wilfs, it’s pretty fashionable around here (along with Ernest, which I do think is pretty awful). Wilfred’s fine.

I used to teach. Taught a Wilf. Quite Scandi cool. No bullying as far as I could tell.

Reallytired17 · 14/12/2017 21:11

I was. Mine was unusual and it made me stand out, so am quite keen to avoid for child(ren!)

Little Willy. Why would he be bullied at school for his name? Hmm

Reallytired17 · 14/12/2017 21:04

Well to be honest, we knew a Wilfred and my parents used to be a bit like ‘lovely bloke, but WilfredGrin

So I think of Wilfred as a Cyril like name! I do still love it though and will and Fred would work as nicknames if he hated it.
