Honestly, would Wilfred be teased?

I love it but have had a couple of Hmm reactions when I’ve mentioned it as a possibility!

I've just seen that someone said it's a drippy name.

There are far more drippy names out there and some are in the top 50.

It's nice. Similar to William and a William could be bullied for being a 'Willy' and I'm sure this rarely happensWink.

Wilf is cute. Maybe a dog's name though.

I can't see how Wilfred would be teased. There are many many more names out there with teasing potential. Wilfred can be nn to Will or Fred too...names which definitely wouldn't attract negative attention.

I think it's great. A bit different and could have nickname Will, Fred or Freddie.

I don't like Wilfred, sorry. The only teasable aspect might be the Will(y) part.

I like it. Didn't the unmumsy mum recently have a baby Wilf? I think it's considered trendy where I am. I also know a young Cyril and like this. He's not bullied either.

My baby took quite a shine to a little Wilf at baby groups. I thought it was a cute name.

Wilfred is okay. Of the others on your list, Isaac is very popular. I don’t like Nicholas (but not for any good reason). Charles is good and underused. Do you like Charlie? He’s likely to be called it at some point.

It's horrible. But I don't think children are bullied for their names unless they are very obviously something "rude"......

It was on our shortlist but to be honest I think we liked the options for shortenings more than the actual name. I do really like it but I did wonder if he would thank me for being a teenage Wilfred, to be honest. But as PPs have said, it's definitely being used as a name fairly regularly so it probably won't be an issue.

It's very drippy. See if your husband wants to change his name to Wilfred then take it from there...

No I don’t think so. I know of two under 7 in my small town. It isn’t as out there as people might think imo.

I think it's common enough these days so as not to stand out among his peers. Personally I classify alongside the aforementioned Cyril and would be thinking 'poor bugger'. But i'd keep my thoughts to myself!

I like Wilf a lot and it's not uncommon now amongst the baby set Smile. I know. Any Wilfreds, Gilberts, Ernie. I don't think it would cause him any problems.

We have a wilf at school, none of the children batted an eye and I'm now so used to it when we met a will his name seemed unfinished...

Not nowadays, and certainly not in trendy middle class circles. Wilfred is very much on trend grandad chic.

Got a friend with an 11yr old Wilfred; never had an issue. Popular confident little chap. Great name!

There’s a Wilfred in my daughters class at school. No bullying going on.
