Middle name for Thomas?

DS is being called Thomas after DH's dad who passed away. I'd have chosen something more exciting but understand that DH wants to honour his dad. So I'm looking for a more exciting middle name! Our surname starts with S and Thomas S---- doesn't flow well, so I'm expecting him to use his middle name all the time.

I'm looking for something cool and modern with some sort of meaning, maybe a surname sort of name. Ideas so far have included:

Thomas Winter or Thomas Frost (because of the weather)
Thomas Gray (a family name)
Thomas Wolf (related to where we live)

Are any of these silly? Any more ideas?

Would you shorten it to Tom? Tom S— might sound better.

I don't know anyone who uses their middle name all the time. If your preferred first name doesn't go with your last name I think you need to reconsider, despite wanting to honour FIL.

Please don't use frost as a middle name.
