What was the most popular first name when you were at school?

Born 78, mixed primary with no duplicates in either boys or girls.

All girls secondary, loads of Claire's,
Michelle's, Kelly's, Sarah's, Kerry's and Lynsey's.
There was one other girl with my quite unusual name.
We shared the same first name and last name Grin

Gemma and Katie were the most popular girls' names by far. Among the boys, there were a lot of Davids, Bens and Stevens/Stephens.

Born 87. Lots of emmas, Katie's and for boys a lot of Daniel and jack. Middle names I'm sure everyone was Louise Grin

I forgot about Louise! Almost every girl in my class was either named Louise or had Louise as their middle name. We counted it up once and Louise featured in most of our names or our siblings' names somewhere.

I had several of the following in my classes at school and in my neighbourhood:

Girls -
Catherine/Katherine/Kathryn (four of my age just on my street! 3 in my primary class), Claire, Lindsey/Lindsay/Lyndsey (3 in my class inc a boy), Sarah, Kerry, Gemma, Tracey.

Boys - Lee, Daniel, Robert, Paul, James, Christopher, Matthew. Especially Lee, there were about five in my class at secondary school!

There were 12 boys in my form at secondary. Four were called Richard and three John.

Similarly, in my halls at uni, there were about 20 women and four were called Laura, two Sarah’s and three Catherine’s.
